Re: Rubbishest team
Is it time to admit now that Gareth Farrelly was shite?

I saw it and assumed it must just be another one from before my time. Cannot be Robbie!boltonboris wrote:Have I just seen Robbie Elliott's name mentioned in a 'worst ever' list?!

Farrelly was pish in the prem, but more than solid in Div1. Not a great, but shouldn't be anywhere near this list!mrkint wrote:Is it time to admit now that Gareth Farrelly was shite?

Plus, the goal didn't take a deflection..
Unless the deflection was the goal deflecting his lack of ability

Him and Ian Marshall dragged us to a win

Re: Rubbishest team
It certainly couldn't be Robbie Elliot who was an excellent player and one I wish we had the likes of last season. Great passer and a ferocious tackler.Prufrock wrote:I saw it and assumed it must just be another one from before my time. No, what you're probably looking at is Steve Elliot.
Counterfoil to Oghani and Caldwell he was, as was common parlance of the teime - a 'stump'.
Has anyone said Nigel Jemson yet?

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Re: Rubbishest team
Has Nicky Summerbee been mentioned?
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...
Re: Rubbishest team
People like Gareth Farrelly don't deserve to be on a worst XI, as mentioned he scored the first goal in our play off final win. Same goes for Jardel imo, he scored against Liverpool away in our League Cup run that year. So as bad as they might have been should be spared being part of a worst XI.
Re: Rubbishest team
Since Jemson only did about 3 games worth of shite, he's no more in than the likes of Snookes, neil matthews and mike Ringcoffeymagic wrote:It certainly couldn't be Robbie Elliot who was an excellent player and one I wish we had the likes of last season. Granted, he came with a rep so was probably more disappointing
Steve Elliot wasn't that bad, I don't think - he cost us big money at the time
We just didn't use him right

Re: Rubbishest team
Aye - I'm not sure that there's any place for loanees in the worst XI, otherwise Jon Ostemabor and John Gregory would romp home.

I can't find a video, but my memory is of him hitting a bit of a scuffed shot with his least favoured right foot, but it didn't take a deflection, did it?
Settled the nerves nicely on the day and was actually the launchpad for a glorious decade!

Re: Rubbishest team
right foot, edge of the box, im sure it got a huge deflection from the chap charging him down so it didn't look very visible til the replay.
He'll get a pass though.

Re: Rubbishest team
I've not forgiven him for Stockport away, 3-0 down and back to 3-3, then he makes a balls-up and Wilbraham scores the winner for them. We had half the ground that day, and the added bonus of Suuuuuuuper John stood with us on the terraces.boltonboris wrote:Have I just seen Robbie Elliott's name mentioned in a 'worst ever' list?!
I think that's what happened anyway, I've never managed an away game without getting blind drunk first.
Jason Lydiate is my entry for the 'rubbishest team'.
Troll and proud of it.

Not sure if he'd be in the rubbishest team but saw Isiah Rankin turn out for Hendon last year. Boy likes his food.

Re: Rubbishest team
I've said on here before that Gaz Faz was no better/worse than most of the team, he just got the earache in much the same way as Chris Eagles and young Tyrone do now.
In fact I might have said it further up in this thread almost word for word but i can't be arsed checking.
What about his goal at Arsenal when he did a Ronaldinho again Seamen?
Ray Deakin?

I left at 3-0.. Managed to convince the steward to let me back in at 3-2 after a couple of pints in the Edgely arms(?).. Wish I hadn't bothered.. Crushing disappointment.as wrote:I've not forgiven him for Stockport away, 3-0 down and back to 3-3, then he makes a balls-up and Wilbraham scores the winner for them.
