Re: Wigan
Not to mention Divison 2 champions twice, one being 1970's. Play off winners twice. Asia Cup or whatever it was called. They'll have to build an extension onto the trophy cabinet at this rate.Gravedigger wrote:Turkish Trotter wrote:I think the problem with Wigan fans is that they see themselves as a BIG club, and although the win yesterday was well deserved, it will only make them worse. I work with quite a few of them and since we went down they can't help themselves gloating. I'm just hoping that they now they take after the Wolves, go on the downward spiral, and descend back to where they belong into the Conference. But they'll still see themselves as BIGGER than us because they won the FA cup in 2013 and we've won nowt since 1958.
My bold. Sherpa Vans Trophy, Lancashire Senior Cup, Reserves and various other trophies since the 1980s.

So Wigan need to win both their remaining games, including one at Arsenal midweek to have a chance of survival.

Oh it's not impossible. But it is win win. Wigan beat Arsenal and then Arsenal probably can't get a chumps league spot. Which would be even better than Wigan going down.....a1 wrote:they did that when robin "scores when he wants" van persie had a stinker.

Re: Wigan
Looks like it, unless they can crab the two games. QPR totally rolled over for Newcastle, despite the Geordies losing a player. QPR thus losing any shred of honour they might have had. Hoping for a Wolves on this abortion of a super rich plaything. Sunland also could escape. Feeling a tad unlucky. LMAO ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

No Premiership, no Martinez, no Kone et al...and it could be an interesting next couple of weeks at the DW. One thing is for sure the c6 -8k Man U fans that followed them to Wembley to support them beating City won't be there versus Villa when they need them most.

Re: Wigan
Wouldn't be sure of that, GD. QPR are simply shit, despite the twitchy Messiah. Newcastle didn't get any special easy ride. Their league results, in order, under Redknapp are DDDWLLLWDDDDLLWWLLDLLDLL. Newcastle, West Brom, Liverpool, Swansea, Man U, Aston Villa, Fulham, Everton, Stoke, Arsenal - almost everyone's had a free ride on the Premier League bike.Gravedigger wrote:QPR totally rolled over for Newcastle, despite the Geordies losing a player.

Re: Wigan
They're inexperienced and flimsy, and depend a lot upon Benteke, 2013's top Premier League scorer. I've said all along that Wigan would beat Villa, but slips elsewhere (namely against Swansea, who've gone from Championship to Europe since Bob Martin left) mean they will have to win at Arsenal too.a1 wrote:villa are crap.
To be honest part of me would like to see them beat Arsenal – sorry GG, but I'd prefer Spurs to get in so the money isn't divided up so boringly predictably – and then fail to beat Villa. I'd still rather they go down than any other team in the mix-up, partly for parochial reasons (and a derby) but largely because they would be much less threat next term than Villa or Sunderland, chaotic as those two teams have been.

Paul Weller japery aside, I still think this should be in Other Footy. We've got Stevenage fans organising sponsored walks on this section now. #tipoftheiceberg

Re: Wigan
A perfect scenario would see Wigan win tonight, Spurs get European football and Wigan still get relegated.
