It took me far too long to work out who the hell SCD was.

Shrew ... shrew ... as in the animal that's a bit like a mouse.coffeymagic wrote:I'd like to see managers state their intentions for the cup competitions at the start.
Then the fans could go/stay away depending on their feelings. If they went and were treated to a reserve team for first team ticket prices at least they'd know before they set off.
I'd like to see SCD up front for this. I've only seen him in short bursts but when I see him I like him. He always makes himself available, always wants the ball and I think given a run could be a steady goal scorer.
Play him tonight, let him bag a couple and then see what Doogle does for the weekend.
I too always used to enjoy trips to Shrowesbury. Lovely part of the world.
Shrow ... as in Shrove Tuesday ... is for those south of the river and commonly used by the hill-dwellers and Cymraeg.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Taming of the Shrews? Capital One Cup 6/8
Tell you what I miss. A good walloping. When was the last time we trounced someone by six, seven or even eight*?
Truly demoralising the home team and fans with a goal every fime we go forward.
Plymouth, Swindon, Spurs, Chelsea have all been dumped on their backsides over the years (the Spurs and Chelsea wins are often over looked for some reason) and I've been lucky enough to be there for all of them.
Come on Bolton, it's time for another so let's put these small mouse like type creature sh***ing so and sos to the sword (swerd).
*10/9/83 Bolton Wanderers 8 - 1 Walsall.
The 'Bright Spark' game (Caldwell 5, Deakin, Rudge and Valentine) was great fun. For years we sunged 'eight-one- at the Walsall fans until, finally sick of it they started singing it back to us. This was years before the ironic singing of 'Wanky Wanderers' or even 'One-nil to the Ars-en-ul' and all the other self-referential self-mocking chanting that goes on now.
In an even more cruel twist of fate the Brummie gits even intoned the Bolton accent in their rendition chanting 'Eeet-Wun' across the Burnden Paddock no-man's land.
It was quite funny and even the Paddock appreciated it.
One of (if not THE) first away games I went to was the 1-6 at Notts County. Slightly less fun.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Walsall 8-1 was Sept 1983 I think
October 84 the loss to Nottingham County

A lad from our school (Simon Doig) came with us and said it was 'boring' so while we enjoyed a nine-goal unthriller he sat and did his maths homework. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Maths was an orange book.
I used to love going to games at this time, not because they were very good (they often weren't) but it was the real start of me going to football with my granddad. We always had goals 84/85 we had F69 A75 and you could sit practically anywhere you wanted.
I think it was £1.20 for me to get in.
Really happy days.

Re: The Taming of the Shrews? Capital One Cup 6/8
Cheroosbury were a real pain in the arse football team when I was growing up.
Permadivision 2 drifters they always managed to stay up with three or four games to go and were the very definition of midtable nomarkitry.
What's the opposite of a 'sleeping giant'? They were that.
An aroused dwarf? A rampant goblin?
If I was the sort of person who used 'smileys' I use one now.

^ It is home team first, scores in same order as teams (errr I think. It's from the 11v11 site)
