I just noticed this bit out of Douglas's speech...
some of the words in Douglas's speech wrote: “They’ve got one or two fantastic players in their team and Dave Jones knows what he’s doing."
That's uncannily like a quote out of the Owen Coyle school of statements.

Unfortunately we only have one game a week for the next month, but then we go into the very busy period of December where last season we didn’t really have the squad rotation to do well over the Christmas period.
Unfortunately is an interesting word... you get the feeling DF loves his long-term planning ("Oh I'll play him against that lot, then rest him midweek so he's ready for Saturday again...")

Or it could just be that we've not got many games left with his loanees...

I get the feeling that he just grabs whatever word is closest to the forefront of his brain. Any of the following might well have come out instead:

Interestingly we only have one game a week for the next month
Fortunately we only have one game a week for the next month
Providentially we only have one game a week for the next month
Dangerously we only have one game a week for the next month
Surprisingly we only have one game a week for the next month
Strangely we only have one game a week for the next month
Boringly we only have one game a week for the next month
Unvaryingly we only have one game a week for the next month
Serendipitously we only have one game a week for the next month

He could have a lot more fun with his adverbs.

Coincidentally we only have one game a week for the next month
Flatteringly we only have one game a week for the next month
Indubitably we only have one game a week for the next month
Lasciviously we only have one game a week for the next month
Archaically we only have one game a week for the next month
Confidentially we only have one game a week for the next month
Regularly we only have one game a week for the next month
Martially we only have one game a week for the next month
Orgasmically we only have one game a week for the next month

I see what you mean:

Cosmically we only have one game a week for the next month
Stereotypically we only have one game a week for the next month
Phantasmagorically we only have one game a week for the next month

Only if it remains a constant that BWg>OTg, where OT is opposition team and g is goal

(I'm aware I'm well out of my comfort zone here in mathsworld)

Some managers 'talk a good game'. Dougie is not one of those managers.

Listen to any of his post match excuses and he sounds exactly liek a bloke from the gas board taking twenty minutes to explain to you why he can't fix your cooker until a week next June.

Unfortunately we only have one egg bucket frisbee turnip.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Genuinely optimistic about the next half dozen or so games.
I really hope Freedman has got his act together although this rotation shit scares me some what, even mega teams with mega talented squads come unstuck there.

worringly I just think he loves the idea of rotating players and probably now realises he has far too many players for the games we have

Trouble is, he's promised them all first team football. The shit'll hit the fan when somebody does the maths.

I sincerely hope he picks people on match form rather than training. There are people in every sport who are average to poor trainers because they only perform at their best in a competitive situation. And of course those who can only show their talent when the pressure is off in training and then go to pieces when it matters. Met both types over the years and know which I'd prefer to see in the team.

Will be reet. Come game 24 we'll be comfortably mid-table. No 'this lot will finish top-half' excuses between now and Xmas.

Just so we've got a bit of a steer, how much cider do you currently have in your fridge?
