It also suggests that players who didn't respond to his genius-like ways are lazy wasters who don't care. Is that the only reason for the underperformance? Maybe his ways are bollocks and he's confusing them by not playing to their strengths. A really good manager would play in such a way as to get the best out of what he's got while gradually evolving to his own style of play as he changes the personnel. He's already got his new excuses lined up for next season.

Staffs said Freedman said he wanted to change players lives .... you said he didn't say that ... I just showed you he did.

Not too complex.
nahh... staffs said "players were got rid of because they did not want Dougie 'to change their lives'"... I think it says - bottom line - they were got rid of because they didn't deliver the goods in proportion to what we were paying them... the changing lives bit is about them lounging about, satisfied with drawing a pay-cheque... I doubt very much if dougie gives a monkeys about a player's "life" if he is delivering the goods - but if they're not - then it's fair game to call them.

bottom line - too expensive for what they contribute. simple! 8)

Fckg hell .. I get shite if I just refer to stuff he says but when I supply quotes you decide to "think what he's saying".

In a moments childishness he's decided to "have a go" at a couple of players he believes haven't pulled their weight, haven't delivered "bang for the buck" and (in my eyes, crucially) wouldn't go on loan when he arranged it. He wanted "ti change their lives" and they resisted him. He's making it pretty plain that is his way or the highway.

That works if his way is successful.

It hasn't been so far. He has another season coming up to try and show it will be.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

He has let them go and I don't think that they will be missed.

Strange why he felt the need to come out with such a statement though.

indeed - that seems to be the prevailing mood - and a summer to put the groundwork in place... let's hope the talk of getting his transfer business done early wasn't just wishful thinking - though - with the best will in the world and our lack of funds - some of that hope will HAVE to be wishful thinking...

interesting summer ahead either way!

Last seasons pre-season (friendlies )should have been at least a little warning to him that the squad he had weren't as good as he maybe thought. That run to almost reach the play-offs last season included some of the luckiest Bolton results I've seen in a long time.

Do we have to defend our Asia Plate, or can we keep it? :)

Surprised he commented on those leaving that he felt weren't pulling their weight. Hey ho, he gets a clean slate going into the season for me. He gets to sign players he wants and coach them how he sees fit. If after 10 games were in the same predicament as this season we'd can get rid
Pfffft.

I'm all for bringing young players through, but not sure I agree we need a creche eleven. Most decent sides usually have some older experienced heads mixed in with the youngsters. If it wasn't that way everybody would be playing their under twenty-ones team as a first eleven every week.
Dougie, as I've commented before, is a strange man. I'm still not convinced he isn't just gambling.

Agreed. Eagles played a huge part in our run last year and with Dawson was, for me, the reason we turned draws into wins and losses into draws. Dougie dined out on our form at the time, as testament to his coaching skills. A good coach would and could, have made good use of Eagles this season
