Exactly right. You're the same age as me and will had pretty much the same journey. There's a lot of fun still to be had, it's not the end of the world.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Approaching very slowly, mate - 1993 is 23 years ago...BWFC_Insane wrote:But we've not been in the lower leagues for what is approaching 3 decades.
Maybe I'm not as bothered because most of my first decade following Bolton was in the third tier, with a brief diversion to the fourth. But also because although success is nice, it's not a necessity.

Now stop right there.
You telling me you leave your comfy chair in the boozer, trudge down to the Macron to watch this shower of shit and you still have fun!

You've just made no point whatsoever. It's where we all are, yet you somehow think think that it's where you are alone!BWFC_Insane wrote:For me the whole 'I will be there whatever' argument is completely valid but I'm not sure really what that means. It doesn't mean the situation isn't completely shit. Nobody can be happy with this. Nobody can look forward to potentially a decade in the lower leagues or worse.
We surely all hope the club can be acquired and become relatively competitive again? I mean
I will still be there. But watching us struggle year after year with little hope of any success does not make me happy or excited or pleased at all. It brings me out in a cold sweat to be honest. This time the money in the top two divisions means there is unlikely to be the Rioch inspired Phoenix from the flames rise again. And far more likely that we spend generations out of any limelight.

I think it means "I will be there whatever" and isn't an argument but a personal statement of intent?BWFC_Insane wrote:For me the whole 'I will be there whatever' argument is completely valid but I'm not sure really what that means.

(on a personal note I'd like to thank all you wonderful TWers that made it possible for me, at my advanced age, although not as advanced as Tango obviously, to be able to respond in such a 21st century manner).

Never, NEVER, NEVER !!!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I have been optimistic that something would happen before Administration day but I have pressed the panic fanny button this morning. Time now to run around with your hands on your heads. It might not happen today but it will happen. PANIC!!

I don't think it will, hence my ambivalence. Someone's going to ride in on a big white horse and rescue us from this unholy mess - just you mark my words.malcd1 wrote:I have been optimistic that something would happen before Administration day but I have pressed the panic fanny button this morning. Maybe they're romantic and they're trying to find Billy The White Horse From The 1923 FA Cup Final What We Won.BWFC_Insane wrote:They'd best get a bloody move on then....Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't think it will, hence my ambivalence. Or maybe this is some other kind of flogging a dead horse.
Re: Panic Fannies vs Men of Steel
I like your optimism. I was at that stage last week but there is nothing positive coming from the club or rumours on Twitter. I fear the worse now.Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't think it will, hence my ambivalence. Re: Panic Fannies vs Men of Steel
FWIW I think we'll be bought at some point. But the question is more what will be left to buy at that stage and how much damage will there be to repair.
Given I think it highly unlikely we will find anyone prepared to buy us and bankroll us in the manner ED did, the future does not look great given we cannot operate as even a mid table championship club on our own turnover. Not even close at this moment in time. And as we sell more and more, the future turnover is only going one way.....
