Thomason never a penalty taker.
I'd say that was a decent save to be fair to the keeper.

Thomason is an emotional lad and definitely not the type I’d have as a natural penalty taker. Collins the opposite.

I'm in the enjoys the cup camp so I'm happy we got through. Going out on penalties certainly wouldn't have been terrible but I'm glad were through.

What a way to do it coming back from being that far behind on pens.

The referee technically doing us a favour not sending off number 44 as he was the one who missed their first.

I think the referee should be rightly reported as the incident is nothing short of poor player losing his head and lashing out.

Two games in which players have gotten away with dirty challenges. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the season if they're getting away with it now.

Poor performance. Could have been 3 down inside 20 minutes. Like Saturday we seemed to be going more direct and bypassing the midfield.

Positives - Tutu and Matete both have a very good 1st touch. Tomo's goal deserved to win any cup tie. Vic was direct and impressive. Southwood calm and composed.

Negatives - Morley missed another opportunity to grab a starting spot. Several players took knocks or looked in discomfort. Ferino - hmm.
Referee was crap as usual.

As much as I like cup games I always consider these kind of games as a cross between a pre-season warm up for players needing minutes and opportunities for players to push for a starting spot/challenge for a first team place. I expected a disjointed performance, which we got, but we got a win and those all too valuable minutes under the belts of those players needing them. Did anyone stake a claim for a first team inclusion tonight?

Not sure when the tackle was but I suspect them playing with 10 men might have impacted them getting a goal. Not sure how much that ref helped us but it's always nice when someone gets a slice of karma pie.

Even I’m not that negative about tonight. Disjointed at times. But I wouldn’t call it poor, it was what you’d expect from a team thrown together without much training or work.

Individually I think everyone showed something. Which is pleasing. Matete the pick of the new lads tonight, he looks very good. Forino also looks good though was stretching a bit before he went off. Evatt says we were injury free though so presumably is ok.

Mcatee had some lovely touches but looked a bit lost at times with the system. Tutu looks ok but I’d say defensively is a bit green. Southwood had a dream debut really.

Only negatives would be we created enough openings but again failed to make them count…and defensively we look too open at times. Not sure we are comfortable defensively in this new shape yet.

But overall assuming Evatt is correct in his injury assessment a decent night all things considered.

Matete, Johnston, Adeboyejo could all feel aggrieved if they were dropped to the bench for Sunday.
