Matt thingy in the Express is convinced that Arsenal are now the only club to have made a firm bid.

He's talking about these players as part of a possible swap,Lofthouse Lower wrote:Matt thingy in the Express is convinced that Arsenal are now the only club to have made a firm bid.

Henri Lansbury
Armand Traore
Emmanuel Eboue
Carlos Vela.
Now which of those LL if any would you think worth it? If it were me I'd say "can we have the 17M please" if they are the options!

I guess Vela would be a good option, not sure about the others.

None of those mentioned cover positions in which we're that desperate (cos their shit fullbacks are no better than our current shit fullbacks)

I'd love a nice trip to Cabbot Cove at the moment.
Actually, can she play left-back?

Lansburys a midfielder, played for the England U21's. Traore and Vela both show good promise, i'd be reluctant to part with them. You can have Eboue thoughohjimmyjimmy wrote:What position does Lansbury play?BWFC_Insane wrote:He's talking about these players as part of a possible swap,Lofthouse Lower wrote:Matt thingy in the Express is convinced that Arsenal are now the only club to have made a firm bid.

In case anybody doesn't wish to tiptoe onto the Mail site, here's the beef ("credited" simply to Sportsmail Reporter...)Beefheart wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ds-newsxml
Spurs really do want/need to reduce their wage bill – they're particularly keen to kick out Keane - but as suggested, I think they'd value those four players at close to £17m, which would give us very little cash to play with... as well as landing us with four players who are surely over our wage threshold. Nice try Harry but I don't think so.Tottenham have made another attempt to prevent Gary Cahill from joining Arsenal by offering a staggering four players in a swap deal. As Paris St Germain also close on a £14million deal for midfielder Wilson Palacios, Tottenham are working hard on cutting down their oversized squad to clear the way for new signings.
Bolton Wanderers' boss Owen Coyle has been contacted by the north London club over a complicated exchange that could see several of Harry Redknapp's squad leave with the players understood to be Sebastien Bassong, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Alan Hutton. Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that cash plus Younes Kaboul and Bassong had also been mentioned for Cahill.
The England international defender is thought to favour a move to Arsenal while Manchester City and Liverpool are also monitoring events. But Tottenham manager Redknapp does not want to risk the deal going through to their neighbours without putting up a fight.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Matt Law, sorry, not Matt Thingy
ARSENE WENGER has opened talks with Bolton in a bid to toughen up Arsenal’s defence and sign England international Gary Cahill.
And Gunners boss Wenger is expecting a second bid from Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas after Pep Guardiola told president Sandro Rosell the midfielder is his number one target and that he must find a way of striking a deal with Arsenal.
Wenger has been a long-term admirer of Cahill, but finally made his move at the end of last week and is hoping to tie up a deal before his squad report for pre-season training next Tuesday.
Cahill has a £17million release clause in his Bolton contract, but only has a year left on his present deal.
Wenger may try to avoid paying the full release price by offering Bolton manager Owen Coyle some of his fringe players as part of the deal or on season-long loan.
Midfielder Henri Lansbury, Mexican forward Carlos Vela, utility player Emmanuel Eboue and left-back Armand Traore will all be made available to Coyle as part of Arsenal’s Cahill bid

Why the f*ck is everyone obsessed with swapping us players?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Lansbury box to box midfielder.....similar to Ramsey, just not as good. Wenger says he's the new parlour and will make it at arsenal
Vela talented striker, but mentally weak and wouldnt do much for Bolton
Eboue will never be made available
Traore is someone i can see Coyle get alot of. I rate him higher than Gibbs, but we need some english players, so gibbs stays
The player I would go for at arsenal is Francis Coquelin. This guy played same youth team as wilshere and is gonna be an absolute monster. He played for Lorient last season on loan and I have no doubt he's gonna be a star for us very soon. Alot of Arsenal fans rate him as the best young player at arsenal....of the ones not in the first team

There's a recession on; we've got a thin squad; others have huge squads; squad lists are capped at 25.Lord Kangana wrote:Why the f*ck is everyone obsessed with swapping us players?
Whether We Of The High Standards like it or not, all those players make sense in their way.Gooner Girl wrote:Lansburys a midfielder, played for the England U21's. Traore and Vela both show good promise, i'd be reluctant to part with them. You can have Eboue though
I've been half-expecting us to be lent Lansbury as a "new Wilshere", not that he's at that level (sadly).
We know Coyle liked Vela in January (though we're glad it didn't work as we got Sturridge instead), and it wouldn't surprise or particularly dismay me if he was part of the swap.
Traore and Eboue are attacking full-backs (who can play wide midfield), which also ticks a few Coyle boxes.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Its being discussed because the press are putting it out there as an option and it has oft been reported that Coyle prefers a player + cash deal to straight cash. Whether thats true or not whether it will happen or not, who knows. But its discussed as its been a common thread throughout the Cahill to "City, Spurs, Arsenal" reports since May.Lord Kangana wrote:Why the f*ck is everyone obsessed with swapping us players?
Don't think anyone is obsessed as we all seem to be saying that the "proposed" Arsenal options aren't much use to us.
