Then it's a good job we aren't a Premiership team.bwfcdan94 wrote:He wasent any good for Wolves when they were in the premiership.

He was so bad they ended up in league 1!
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

That doesn't actually make much sense though, at least when it comes to avoiding FFP penalties this year.BWFC_Insane wrote:Well quite simply, we are having to avoid losing more than £8M this year, after losing considerably more than that next year.bobo the clown wrote:I get the impression that a few "fringe Premiership" players are having to modify their expectations for their next contracts.Bruce Rioja wrote:Really? How much has he asked for then, being as you're so certain?BWFC_Insane wrote:We can't afford Chris Eagles.
I have no idea if Eagles will do though the fact that the likes of Charlton were sniffing around (albeit he declined them) suggest he may. He's effectively lost a whole season of his career this tine, with injury, form and selection issues. He's not going to get offered another £20,000 - 25,000 pw one by any club. (That figure being plucked from the air but following the Gavin McCann revelations last week).
I don't see him staying .... nor DF even offering him a new contract ... but it's not simply an income thing.
From all I've read and heard reducing the loss to something that fits FFP is predicated on the releasing of those players out of contract. As that is likely the only significant savings possible.
Now what that leaves to replace them is somewhat frightening. But IF the club truly does want to comply with FFP (and we have to assume they do) then unless the likes of Eagles will accept a massive reduction in wages, then I don't think it is unfair to say we can't afford them.
We have between June 30th 2013 and June 30th 2014 to reduce our losses by something like £40m. Releasing players who's contract expire on June 30th 2014 will make absolutely no difference to us in achieving that aim.

According to some http://www.westlondonsport.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, we are interested in signing Chelsea youngster, Jeremie Boga (17 years old) on a season-long loan. I know absolutely nothing about him but I hope he is very good because I wonder how much of an impact will a 17 year old make in the Championship.

I read somewhere that Beckford is off in the summer.
Though I later saw that report rubbished somewhere else.

How long are you planning to keep going on about this to your little self?Enoch wrote:I read somewhere that Beckford is off in the summer.

Only the more you mention it now, the less effective your smug told you so will be when he doesn't actually leave in the summer.
And I'd hate for you to not have that pleasure.

@OfficialBWFC: Brazilian midfielder @andremoritz10's season potentially over after hamstring injury. Full details here: http://t.co/8u3S8U4sAq" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; #BWFC
Is he on a 12 month contract? Ie we'll probably never see him again? The gift has gone.

Yep ... 12 months & he was making noises about wanting more pitch-time, more starts. Until, that was, his performance v Barnsley. He's be fortunate to get a similar offer & certainly not on his dream terms. So it's down to him & DF now, I guess.TonyDomingos wrote:@OfficialBWFC: Brazilian midfielder @andremoritz10's season potentially over after hamstring injury. I'd be happy for him to stay, but not at the terms he may expect/hope.

Hardly surprising really, he has played well, they want more money, I imagine they will try him out again.
We are never really going to be on a winner loaning players at the same level as ourselves.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Freedman isn't going to get the money needed to turn us around. Like last season.
Will be exactly the same only worse.
And there will be the same people banging on about the manager not being good enough when he's had to beg borrow and steal players to bolster our sorry lot.
And the same pointless arguments about wage bills and resources.
We aren't good enough. We needed better players. When we got them in on loan we were good enough for a top 6 run at least. But when we don't keep those players we revert back to where we are. And will have once again beg borrow and steal when it is too late.
Frustrating isn't the word......
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Very true. Just thought that out of all the players that we had seen on loan, The Juke and Danns(y) would have been the important ones. We can only hope that Sordell and Cravies get sold on for decent amounts, or is that purely wishful thinking?jaffka wrote:Hardly surprising really, he has played well, they want more money, I imagine they will try him out again.

Cravies will go ... for around £250k. He'd be happy to be somewhere he gets games.
Sordell may be another matter. He's not going to get a salary similar to the one we gave him and I think his mentality may be to hang on. I guess another Southern based loan, part funded by us. Though I do thonk Pearce's belief in him is the possible career saver for him.
The Juke would, I guess, be happy to sign if we can rustle up the £1m he'll cost. Then we need the fast, nippy, goal scorer to link with him. Maybe Iliev or Clough need to be vying for that.
Can't see Eaves making it back despite all the words used 12 months ago. He may fetch a modest fee. Same with Sanmi ... though I'm less sure of any fee.

If it is just like last season then happy days, as we spent what it'd cost to bring in the Juke several times over on the likes of Spearing, Beckford, Baptiste, Tierney, Moritz and Hall.BWFC_Insane wrote:Freedman isn't going to get the money needed to turn us around. Like last season.

By the time June 30th comes around the likes of Eagles will have left and Danns and Trotter will have signed on permanently. At that point, how many more players could he possibly need to move in and out before it's his team?
FWIW, I'd be reticent about spending our budget on someone who has a fairly patchy record throughout his career so far.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Freedman isn't anywhere near good enough and if we had a manager who was capable of getting the best out of the players he already has, we wouldn't need to constantly bring in players on loan. The financial situation is being used by Freedman and his clueless defenders to excuse the dire performances we've seen over the last two years. Last season, Freedman had three significant targets, Beckford, Spearing and Dawson, and we got two of those and didn't need the other, yet he's still churning out the same nonsense to excuse his lack of managerial ability. Instead of moaning about players we can't get, how about finding a way to make one striker work? Or to stop relying on long ball tactics? Or to get the most out of our wingers? Or to get the best out of Beckford?BWFC_Insane wrote:Freedman isn't going to get the money needed to turn us around. Like last season.

These players who you hold up as being key to our resurgences are nowhere near as important as you make them out to be. I think you know that too but you need a reason to defend Freedman and, just like him, you blame it on the players despite the obvious root of the problem being his lack of managerial ability.
For what it's worth, I'm glad Freedman isn't going to be backed in the transfer window. I don't think he deserves a penny and I don't think he should be in charge of this rebuilding process. We need someone to repair the mess he's making, not allow him to get us further into the sh*t.

For it to be his team he has to get the chance to sign the players he feels we need for the objectives required.Tombwfc wrote:If it is just like last season then happy days, as we spent what it'd cost to bring in the Juke several times over on the likes of Spearing, Beckford, Baptiste, Tierney, Moritz and Hall.BWFC_Insane wrote:Freedman isn't going to get the money needed to turn us around. So far he hasn't had that chance. And has said so.
Of course we need Jutkiewicz. And another striker.
And he will probably sign some players. Doesn't mean he will get the opportunity to bring in that quality.
