We know what we need to beat now.

The aim should be top spot and 100 points.

A lot of work to do.

It won't be an easy division, it almost never is.
No, but I think the teams coming down are considerably weaker than the teams going up

You'd hope so.

Blackpool come down boasting two forwards (Yates and Lavery) who will think they can score 20+ at this level. So it's not obvious they'll be weak.

Derby, Pompey, Barnsley and Posh all have good managers who will be backed financially (Derby will spend themselves into oblivion, by the looks of it).

It'll come down to who gets the best players this summer. I hate to be reductive, but that's really it now.

As an open question: Which of the current lot do people view as guaranteed first team starters next season? Obviously Evatt will say he picks horses for courses etc, but would do you think we won't even bother trying to improve on?

Well you can’t really have Geth and Toal in the list unless you play Geth RWB but I don’t think he will be in that category as a WB.

I think it will depend on who we sign. But Dion, Morley, Santos, Johnston, Toal look likely. The reason I've got Morley ahead of Demps is chance creation (but aware Morley takes set pieces so he's always likely to be ahead)

For me Morley has improved a lot and has room still to get better. But as it stood last season if you are serious about really winning an automatic slot he’s a player you need to improve upon. He might do that himself. Quite possibly. But if he doesn’t we need to upgrade on him.

Barnsley GK was fantastic
Out of contract and likely to leave Luton in summer, perhaps especially now they've been promoted.

Also free this summer is the goalkeeper who helped Posh into the play-offs, Will Norris.

You need "a Morley" in your team, as Barnsley and Wednesday both show. They have Bannan and Connell who can pick the ball up in the central half space and whip it in, or turn defence into attack with one pass.

It's interesting with Morley that he created quite a bit more than Luca, but has 1/3 the assists. Possibly a demonstration of Barnsley's set piece prowess.

Obviously Bannan puts them both to shame, but then he's a decade more experienced.

If Morley isn't a nailed-on starter, we'll need to upgrade the sort.

The promoted two had Morsy and Randell pulling the strings from deep.

Dyche speaks very highly of Norris as a character. Had he not had that loan he'd be exactly the sort I'd have wanted in as #2. Not entirely sure he's good enough on the ball for what I'd want as #1, but then he's not really had the chance to show that side of his game.

*edit* That's not to say Norris would realistically have come here to be #2.

Worth remembering Morley is only just 23. He's the one with the highest ceiling for me. Him and Dempsey plus one, with proper depth would be fine for me, though the one will need to be good.

We can add Jack Moylan to Lee Bonis in terms of "Players linked to us from across the water."

Just from talking to a couple of agents.

I don't know if we'd be put off by the fees being mentioned by their respective clubs. Not exactly "cheap" by our current standards.

In both cases it's one of those "clubs including..." ones.

Think Bonis appeared in a couple of papers - but linked to pretty much all 92 possible League Clubs in different papers...Well done, Agent. :-)

This was Bolton News, take...

Probable that rumours are being encouraged by the clubs too. £300k is big money for those clubs and they don't want players leaving on frees or getting injured and forgotten.

Defender Jay Dasilva is among four players released by Bristol City.
Even if we'd gone up I fear his demands would have been beyond us.
Joins plucky povs Cov on a four-year deal. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65756362

Cov need to make a strong start in the market. They're losing both numbers and quality this summer.

They're unlikely to get a better striker than Gyokeres, so they'd better improve the squad overall.

You'd assume Dasilva coming in would see Bidwell move to LCB, as they're unlikely to retain Doyle.

Probably a very good move for them.
