Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
With wanting to concentrate on his plans to buy the whole Barcalona team, Mancini will probably get fed up,wrap SWP in a Christmas cracker and drop him off at the Reebok.

Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?

Why don't we pay them a bit less and just whack it in his wages?BWFC_Insane wrote:City would be making up for the loss of earnings for the remainder of his deal. That's up to them. If he says that he will either stay at City and they pay up his contract or he comes here and they pay a third it's their choice. What money they use is irrelevant!Lord Kangana wrote:But it isn't like that.
That mostly happens when a loan is agreed. And a player leaves on a free.
It says we will be paying a fee to City. Who will then pay SWP. Thats just incredibly stupid.

Thats what I said. It makes no sense to just include them as middle men.

Then just give it to him as a lump sum.
Either way, it seems to serve no purpose to hand cash to City for them to hand it to SWP.

Again - I'm thinking OC does not want to set a precedent here. We have a wages/signing on fee ceiling over which he will not go. Hence the jiggery pokery with the payment from Citeh.

Its not like players don't talk to each other. I mean, isn't Zat Knight his bezzie mate? I know everyone thinks they're stupid, but they can't be that stupid.

It may be a limit set by Garty/Ed.

That would just be plain stupid. We set our own limits, then invent clever ways of getting round them. Scratch that, its not stupid its screaming fookin mental.

What does it matter if we, and everyone else, knows we are paying it anyway?!

It's not that stupid to have limits on players wages for a number of reasons, not least of which:
1. Players on lower wages are easier to move on in the future if necessary.
2. Future contract negotiations start from a lower level.
It also appears to be quite a good negotiating stance.

But its not a wage.
If he comes on a free, then its a signing on fee. Which we and everyone else does all the time.
If we do it as printed, it'll be the worst kept secret since Fabregas went to Barcelona. And therefore completely pointless.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
My assumption is that we made a bid of £2m which was accepted with terms to be agreed with SWP. Coyle tells SWP we have a max wage of 35,000 (example) do you want it? SWP tells him no and OC tells City the deal is off because we can't agree wages. City then decide they want rid whatever and agree with SWP to pay him to leave. We have not increased our bid or our wage offer and are within our limit.. It is City's decision to make an extra payment.
What you appear to be suggesting is that we were offered him for free but are going to pay £2m to make his wages up. I don't see that as the sequence of events and have read nothing in the press to suggest as much. I suspect City thought we would up our wage offer or SWP would take the wages from Wigan. Only he wouldn't go there and would prefer to stay at City unless they made him an offer that left him whole.

I love how quality players like Tuncay and SWP are now desperate to come and play for the Mighty Whites, even willing to take wage drops to do it, and it's all because of our Owen. I love that man.

You sound like it's something new for us! Big Sam had world-renowned players like Youri Djorkaeff, Jay Jay Okocha, Fernando Hierro etc etc wanting to play for us.truewhite15 wrote:I love how quality players like Tuncay and SWP are now desperate to come and play for the Mighty Whites, even willing to take wage drops to do it, and it's all because of our Owen. Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
These were players that didn't have anybody else in for them. It's well known that SWP has had offers from Wigan and Stoke, both of which are of a higher value than ours, and one of which comes from a team that will be competing in Europe this year. Yet the latest report suggests that SWP is willing to turn down the higher offers and the Europa League in favour of coming to play for Owen Coyle. For me, this is new for us!hi there, i'm chris wrote:You sound like it's something new for us! I HIGHLY doubt that we were the only teams that were interested in the players I mentioned!

Zat Knight is apparently the most popular man in world football.
What the article is suggesting is that we'll pay City £2mil and then pay SWP our maximum wage. City will then take that money and hand a chunk of it back to SWP in order to make him leave. What people are saying (if I understand correctly) is that that makes no sense at all, and it benefits no-one to do it that way.Wandering Willy wrote: My assumption is that we made a bid of £2m which was accepted with terms to be agreed with SWP. Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I really don't see what folk are struggling with here it happens all the time in football. It's up to City either they pay his wages in full for another season or they pay him a third or whatever to make up the difference saving themselves a considerable chunk in the process. We have agreed a fee with City, they are the ones paying SWPs wages. We will have said this is what we will offer you. If City want to give him a million quid to get him off their wage bill thus saving a further million and a half then it has nowt to do with us. We will not be paying off the difference in his salary as it's not our problem. If City are happy to pay him his full year for him to play in the reserves then they won't do this. Thier choice!
