as it is spoken on the thread - so may it be in real life!
I wouldn't go that far Bish, we're upto 31 pages and only Heskey has come in. I'm still not convinced that the Le Fondre/Commons stories are actually true and think they are an eloborate PR Stunt from Bijou to try and redeem his disasterous thread and keep the Pitchforks/Bedsheets at bay
Ahem.
Heskey was on my watch.......

May the bridges I burn light your way

I thought nothing was ever true in the mailStaffsTrotter wrote:according to the mail they are 'believed to be baulking' at his £30k pw wage demands, but I guess once those negotiations are sorted, yesLord Kangana wrote:Yeah, Le Fondre is good.
Is Chungy definitely on his way to Palace or just bullshit?

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
I'm beginning to worry that Davies and Gartside have decided 'this bloke will keep us up this year then will be gone, so lets clear out and make hay while the sun shines, be easier to sell the club with low out goings'.
That would not surprise me in the slightest, I have more faith in Cameron to tell the truth than Gartside!

Lets say they like putting their own spin and perspective on the news.Hoboh wrote:I thought nothing was ever true in the mailStaffsTrotter wrote:according to the mail they are 'believed to be baulking' at his £30k pw wage demands, but I guess once those negotiations are sorted, yesLord Kangana wrote:Yeah, Le Fondre is good.

Given there seems to be a number of sources reporting on the Palace interest (and tbf I think the mail was the first to mention it), I'm guessing theres something highly probable in it. I'm not sure why a paper like the mail would run a specific story about the wages, unless it had been leaked by palace, as part of the hardball with chungys agent. If it had been a hold up due to concern about his injury, you suspect that is more likely to be a journo putting 2 and 2 together.
Ultimately they deal, may not happen - doesn't mean there wasn't truth in an interest or attempt to do a deal

How much hay, do you think a bloke who we owe £160m to, is going to make out of a £1.5m transfer?Hoboh wrote:I'm beginning to worry that Davies and Gartside have decided 'this bloke will keep us up this year then will be gone, so lets clear out and make hay while the sun shines, be easier to sell the club with low out goings'.

Stop being silly, you and I both know that losing staff save wages, Davies wants to sell when a deal is right and he won't lose anything.Worthy4England wrote:How much hay, do you think a bloke who we owe £160m to, is going to make out of a £1.5m transfer?Hoboh wrote:I'm beginning to worry that Davies and Gartside have decided 'this bloke will keep us up this year then will be gone, so lets clear out and make hay while the sun shines, be easier to sell the club with low out goings'.

Would you buy a club with long term expensive assets you don't want? no, exactly!

I thought he was held in high regard at the club. I think he was the kid who scored a hat-trick against Arsenal youth. Oh well.wigan white wrote:Another out the door as we've now released Tom youngs from his contract.

I watched a couple of televised reserve games and, if he's the one I mean, playing on the left, I thought that lad outstanding.Jugs wrote:I thought he was held in high regard at the club. Very surprising. But there's a plethora of 'nearly making it' kids I guess.Jugs wrote:I thought he was held in high regard at the club. Iliev needs to break through soon too. He & Clough's progress seemed to run parallel for a long time. ... & there seems to be some scoring machine in the next rung down (Hughes ??)
Not many seem to come back and show the decisions to be wrong.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Let me get this right - you think Davies will come out of this at least equal?Hoboh wrote:Stop being silly, you and I both know that losing staff save wages, Davies wants to sell when a deal is right and he won't lose anything.Worthy4England wrote:How much hay, do you think a bloke who we owe £160m to, is going to make out of a £1.5m transfer?Hoboh wrote:I'm beginning to worry that Davies and Gartside have decided 'this bloke will keep us up this year then will be gone, so lets clear out and make hay while the sun shines, be easier to sell the club with low out goings'.

Today's Times: "Crystal Palace are confident of signing" him "but hope that they can strike a better deal nearer the end of the window." His "£22,000-a-week wages will be an issue, though."StaffsTrotter wrote:according to the mail they are 'believed to be baulking' at his £30k pw wage demands, but I guess once those negotiations are sorted, yesLord Kangana wrote:Yeah, Le Fondre is good.

You do get the feeling if Iliev doesn't break through soon he'll be the next one out.
It could have been him, but I think was more of a CF?TANGODANCER wrote:I watched a couple of televised reserve games and, if he's the one I mean, playing on the left, I thought that lad outstanding.Jugs wrote:I thought he was held in high regard at the club. Think he played up top or wide, as many of the new breed seem to. Especially seeing as one-up-top is the new religion, and we seem to have had a lot of young strikers recently.

any idea what the going rate is for prem players these days ? I know we only usually see the headlines for the really top earners, but I'd assumed your bog standard would be in the 20-30k bracketDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Today's Times: "Crystal Palace are confident of signing" him "but hope that they can strike a better deal nearer the end of the window." The average is around £31k per week according to many reports...but if you reckon that the odd £300k folks and City's average of £100k+ sway the average, then 20/25k looks a decent range for most folks.StaffsTrotter wrote:any idea what the going rate is for prem players these days ? Photos of him on the Beeb the other day suggested he'd put a bit of timber on. 2 years ago I'd have been interested but it looks like he's on a downward spiral now from which there's no coming backDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yeah, but what about Pardew?Prufrock wrote:Pretty much every time I've seen them since Pulis took over they've played Chamakh at no.10, with pace either side. As for ALF - I may be wrong but he seems to me to be best in a front two rather than alone. DJ Campbell was usually a willing runner and scored a few - sort of a scrawnier, faster Cravies. Considering the unknowns we've been trialling this week, you'd imagine Lennon would at least ponder it.
