Jimmy Pips son, Nat Phillips, current Bin Dippers reserve capt and previous BWFC academy player is available this summer. Only 21, CB/LB and not likely to feature for Klopp.

Building on a youthful approach, same age as Burke. Worth a look?
I didn't hear Nat had gone off to Liverpool. When did that happen?
GOB, according to Liverpool site it happened at the start of the 2016 season. So just as the 'fit hit the shan' for us.

As for Charlie Wyke, I think it's a great move. 1 in 2.75 by my reckoning over his career. Essentially following a similar route as Vardy. Started at Boro, then non league, Carlisle, Bradford.

And only 25, if it works out good sell on potential
Pfffft.

Mr. Iles has tweeted that it's a £1m and raising that money will be "interesting". Nixon suggests that we are after Hope Akpan, didn't realise he was only 26. Defensive two of Lowe/Akpan, thoughts?

Akpan would be a good addition IMO, we need someone of his size in midfield with Lowe to break up play & give the ball to Oztumer to create - Wyke would also be a decent signing, although I'd be very surprised if we spent £1M on one player - £500k maybe but not £1M unless Ken has managed to get some investment into the club.

I wyke the sound of Charlie Horse!
Wikipedia says Wyke has scored 19 goals in the last 37 League One appearances for Bradford.
6ft 2in too. Gotten more prolific as time goes on. Good sign.
Got two against us in one game. Good work scouts, way to pay attention!
(Though terrible keeping to be fair)

Wyke doesn't inspire me as a signing, but he gets either a goal or an assist every two games and that's not bad. I live near Bradford, so I've seen a bit of him. He's an old fashioned number 9 and one thing I'd say is that, a bit like Benteke or someone, you either cross the ball a lot or you don't bother sticking him in a side. Bradford mates of mine who've seen him a lot more than I have (obviously) will probably be surprised if he moves up a division, as I think the general feeling is that he's a good League One player rather than stuck at too low a level.

He's not a lumbering forward, though. He's quicker than most centre backs he comes up against in League One and his touch didn't seem too bad the few times I went up the Northern - that sounded a lot more euphemistic than I initially intended.

Parkinson clearly needs a target man for him to sleep well at night and we could do worse, I'd say.

Also, I've not looked at the stats, but 27 games for Bradford doesn't sound right. He starts in most games for them and I don't recall him having a bad injury this season. It's have been discussed if he had. He's surely played closer to 40 than 30.

Yeah my bad a typo. 37 games. Good report though. Good age. Good height. Prolific and getting prolificker as he ages. Has re-sell value. A million seems too much though...

Nixon talking up a move for Akpan - who's seemingly decided to leave Burton now
With the phrase "the Trotters may buy for the first time since August". Hmm. We haven't bought a player - exchanged cash for the transfer of his registration - since Filip Twardzik in February 2015.

Is the plan to get hold of folk who've scored against us, in the hope there'll be no-one left to score any more?!

I would be happy with both Akpan and Wyke. I think £1m is a bargain for Wyke. He clearly knows how to finish and if he scores anything like 10-12 in the Championship and plays most games he will immediately be worth £5m+. I am not sure we have £1m to spend however.

The only issue with Akpan is the rep he carries that we discussed earlier. I doubt that bothers PP, given how he dealt with Madine and the fact we were prepared to deal with Flanagan.

Akpan, uninspiring but the sort we need. Big physical midfield presence. Concern has to be relegations on his CV and the fact Blackburn fans hated him. However on a free would be sensible.

Wyke - its a huge gamble. He definitely plays well for Bradford but my concern having seen him not last season but the one before is he looks very one paced to me. How does that translate into the championship? We'll have to see.

Also strong rumour that Morais had a deal ditched to divert funds into someone else. I'm going to guess it will be to compromise a deal with SA.

Well we've signed a striker... Connor Hall on a two-year deal.

And followed up with the news that Harry Brockbank, Liam Edwards, Joe Muscatt and Dennis Politic have been given their first pro contracts.

We've meanwhile "cooled" on Akpan, according to Iles. Does this suggest we have *whispers it* better prospects lined up for midfield, or is this all a rouse by Ken to panic Akpan's agent and get 500 quid a week knocked off his contract?

Bolton gives up Hope!
Wilbrahaim to Rochdale.
Now did SAmeobi and/or anyone interesting like Ireland show up for pre-season training today?

Iles says the offer still stands, but apparently his old club Villa have also offered him the same thing: pre-season trial, see how it goes, looking for fun and friendship and maybe more.

Depends how much he's asking. If the wage ceiling is £10kpw, and he wants £20kpw, what would you pay him? Arbitrary figures but quite possibly a real-world problem.

Indeed and remember that extra 10K per week or half a million quid a year has to be found. Its easy to say "yes" without knowing the consequences.

If its have a small squad with no cover or re-sign Ameobi it puts a different spin on it.
