I'm not worried about loan numbers. Just that it seems an absolute waste of resources. He's not going to play for free and we'd have to cover most, if not all of his wages, on a position where we're pretty stacked. With quality too.
I quite agree, as shown in pretty much every part of my post that you didn't quote.

I thought Ryo was off to be the best player at Arsenal next season - why would he want to come back to bolton?

I'm not defending Coyle, cos I think you're right like.
But we've a minimum of 48 games this season, more if he gives the cups a good go again, often playing twice a week. Plus, our players are no strangers to the medical bay. I can see what he's thinking.

True, but let's just hope that at some point over the summer he gets round to thinking about the big fecking holes in our defence...

Really? We've got 4 wingers to cover 2 places.

But 1 CB to cover 2 places.

And no proper fit defensive midfield player.

I think I'd forgive Coyle if freak injuries denied us of our four wingers. But not for failure to cover the holes we have now and had for most of last season......

Knight is out of contract, and as of yet has not agreed to a new one....

One could include Ricketts, but that would be picky, and would merely switch the problem to another area: left-back, where we have a kid (Blakeman) and a largely unproven young man (Alonso) who may be unavoidably detained elsewhere.

Ricketts aside, count the number of professional UK games played by our contracted defenders. It's a bit worrying.

I think the mood music is that he's not going anywhere.... so - effectively, 2.. snot quite as bleak as you paint it! :-)

(and - it seems he IS trying to keep Zat at the club - a CB - and most people are livid about it!!)

it's interesting - but I don't think I'm yet at the stage of "worry"... as jimmy said - it's only 22nd May... and Coyle has said he'll be on the lookout to strengthen the defense...

Can he play on the wing?

Ryo is better than Petrov, Eagles and Wylde. Why wouldn't we have him back? Him on the left, which is his proper position, and Chungy on the right would be, by far, our best option if we could have all 5 fully fit.

Maybe 5 wingers is excessive but if we get another couple of injuries, which is bound to happen in the longer Championship season, we will regret not having cover. If Chungy and Petrov get knocks, would anyone be happy with an unproven Wylde and Eagles on the wings?

He's a very good player and we'd be stupid to not go after him again, especially because he's available on a loan.

He's barely better than me! Never mind Petrov and Eagles.

And he's about as left sided as the Pope is muslim. Never once saw him use his left foot.

Before his injuries/lack of fitness, he was quite clearly better than Petrov and Eagles. Granted, that form didn't last long but I firmly believe he's better than those two, when fit.

And his position is a left winger who cuts in. He didn't use his left foot when at Feyenoord either. He's not a conventional winger who swings balls in, like Petrov. He's far more attacking minded and will dribble from the left into the centre. The only reason he played on the right for us was because of injuries and it's simply not his best position.

You seem to have seen him play more than any other Bolton fan. Strange that...

I'd have him back based on his performance v Milwall.

Off the back of one performance? He played over 10 more games other than Millwall and was incredibly disappointing
