Unknown Iredale injury added to the known ones (CMG, Dion, Southwood, Williams). All five in the Algarve but not "on the grass".

Evtt: “We’re carrying over some historical stuff from last season, which isn't ideal. But it's important they stay integrated with the rest of the group and everyone's in it together so that when we get them back, they're ready to go. Dion is probably ahead of the others. Randell will probably miss the start of this season but Dion, Jack and Luke Southwood should all be okay, while Carlos is obviously more long-term.”

TBF Iredale looked injured in the play off final he didn’t half move slowly for someone who had been on the field 10 minutes!

Have they been doing adventure activities or something over the break? That's a lot of players to have out early in pre-season.

Yeah, but....
• Williams and Mendes Gomes were injured before season end
• Charles was carrying a problem
• looked to me like Iredale was too
• Southwood arrived injured
so it's just Jones, who barely had a break, and Forino, who has a history of niggles.

I hope they've been working hard in pre-season. Big job on.

That's the downside - on the upside, Johnston sounds like he came through unscathed as did dynamic Dan.

Will Forrester has done his ankle. "Doesn't look serious", say Mr Evatt. Hopefully he's right.

What was the injury that kept Forester out for ages last season? He played on with it against Luton from memory.

Hamstring, as I recall.

Evatt-via-Iles injury update:
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/2 ... y-players/
• Baxter was just rested
• Collins could play at Vale
• Forino will be back in training Thursday
• Dempsey back in training early next week
• Williams back in training late next week
• Forrester rolled an ankle, no timeframe but 'hopefully' not long
• Jones keyhole surgery on knee yesterday, likely out for four weeks before returning to training

Iredale will probably be starting as left sided centre half at orient on the basis they are not throwing Johnston in.

Yeah maybe. Or maybe horses-for-courses. I don't think they'll fight shy of starting him - you don't tend to bring centre-backs on to 'do a job for the last half-hour' unless you're defending a lead against a specific skillset; I got the impression it was more that he won't play every game forever, and when he does play he might not be at 100% all the time, given his long absence.

So basically "like a new signing, but like every new signing, flawed" :D

Will Forrester recovers from an ankle injury, only to fall down some stairs and break his toes.

FFS.

Crazily unlucky. And I was thinking he might have been one sent on loan till January. Shame as I do think there is a very decent player in the making there.

In better news Dempsey is close to a return and Johnston and Forino both should play Tuesday.

The big issue is "out for the foreseeable." That sounds like a really nasty injury that could keep him out for months.

We don't know when Jones is back and now Forrester is tanked.

Johnston won't be fully fit for a while, Forino misses loads of football, Rico picks up strains a lot and Iredale has only managed 30 league starts in one season in his career.

We have 7 for 6 positions and it still "feels" fragile in there.

So that looks like CMG and Will to be de-registered more than likely.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

I'd suggest we were kicking the can down the road, but if we did that someone would definitely break a toe.

Yep. I think it’s also fragile in the sense that we are playing people in wide centre back roles who definitely struggle with that and if they are completely on it will look even more at sea.

But we’ve recruited in there and keep signing players with these sorts of issues.

Is big Caleb under the age limit as I did think he had something about him? He wasn’t fit enough but could a loan for him work?

I told them they should never have moved from Darcy Lever to Horwich. It was asking for trouble to get all that fresh air in their lungs. We've never had an injury free season since. Woodbine smoke, Magee's ale and the ozone from the fresh air toilets at Burnden and the Gas works kept the lads fit and well. I told em...

Caleb Taylor turned 21 in January, so he's U21 this season.
