My apologies for not being clear .... he was largely injured. May have had small pockets of fitness but generally was unfit.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Bobo i like you but i will slap yo backside if you start not reading things properly too...!
Did he not play because he was injured or because he was just not used, dat is de question, before we start dismissing things completely.
... & I like you too !

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Wasn't he on a pay-per-game deal at City? If so, I'd love to take him on. Give him a small wage and if he plays, give him a bonus for every game which will take his weekly earnings to what all our star players are earning. If he's always injured then we won't lose much.Mar wrote:If Owen Hargreaves was interested at a competitive wage that would be a great coup for Bolton. Obviously there's concerns over his wage and the amount of playing time he would be able to do but it would be great to see a player of his calibre at Bolton.
A lot of injuries now seem to have come about through rustiness. I do think he'll play again, even if it's just a couple of seasons.

I'd go for Faye. Get him back. We need a beast at the back.

Which may explain why he looked way past his best last season.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Careful. He's 35 next season.boltonboris wrote:I'd go for Faye. Get him back. We need a beast at the back.
Carlos Cuellar, CB, aged 30, is a free agent too. Not exactly a beast, but versatile.

Had to laugh when someone tweeted that the list of released Wham players was the only thing he'd headed all season.bobo the clown wrote:I should hope so !!ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Jon Carew also released.

Good idea but I don't see him needing to drop down a division. Of course he was apparently willing to go to Rangers last summer.Little Green Man wrote:Carlos Cuellar, CB, aged 30, is a free agent too. Not exactly a beast, but versatile.

And he's too old for Owen!

Cheers. Nothing there is really jumping out at me.
Andy Johnson on a free maybe if the wages are right and he can pass a medical.
Paul Scharner wouldn't be a horrible short-term solution to our center back problem. Could play in midfield too.
Joe Mattock is might still be worth a punt.
We can finally achieve Megson's dream of signing Ferrie Bodde . . .

Would take Scharner in a shot. Good player
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Of that list and those that I should think we should go for, an possibly get:
Carlos Cuellar.
Owen Hargreaves (dependant on pay obviously)
Danny Guthrie (done the promotion thing before so knows how to graft and get a team promoted, settling in should be easy he's been here before, still only 25)
Paul Scharner
Andy Johnson's worth a risk but i'd imagine he'd go to a Premiership club.
I'd also consider signing Hendry Thomas from Wigan (lives nearby, good experience).
