Re: The Debt.
I would say that we'd not be fine if we fall foul of FFP and end up with a transfer embargo. Might impede Dougie's revolution. From my point of view, if we're not breaking even after 2-3 seasons in the Championship then something was wrong. Most contracts at the club would expire in the 2-3 seasons following relegation, meaning we'd be able to get the expensive ones off the books. Time will tell, but I'm of the opinion that Garty wasn't as clever as he thought he was. It looks like a few tasty contracts have been handed out since relegation as well - Coyle and Freedman.BWFC_Insane wrote:What I mean is, FFP became clearer once we'd been relegated. The thing is that we're fine in terms of not going into administration. I'm not really sure in what other way you mean by fine. Are we going to comply with FFP? Is that a marker of fine? We know we're in debt to Eddie but all that really has happened is that FFP means we can't go into any further debt (over 8M a season) without penalty.
I think that when Gartside said we'd be ok were we relegated his promise has held has it not? We're not in admin, there has been no desperate clearing of the decks, beyond what you'd expect upon relegation.
We've lost income, cut our costs and presumably will do so further.
If making a loss is the definition then we weren't fine with a top flight income.
There is a difference between being on the brink of administration and having to cut expenditure as income falls. Put it this way, I don't think we're any less fine than we were in the top flight, just we have less resource to play with.

He'll feel sorry for you now you're an open admin denier.
I always had the impression (can't remember why) that our players had relegation clauses, but if Ngog was on £32k a week in this league, the mind boggles.

We weren't breaking even in the top flight. That was the issue we relied on Eddie.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I would say that we'd not be fine if we fall foul of FFP and end up with a transfer embargo. Now take away FFP and presumably, Eddie would still be putting the money in if he wanted to in order to support our losses.
The thing is IF we intend to comply with FFP he can't land we have to manage within our turnover.
I'd be interested when the last time we actually did that was. Won't be for a long time I shouldn't think certainly not the last 5 or 6 seasons.
I agree about FFP but I don't think that was the benchmark Gartside had when he said we'd be fine. To be fair we aren't the only ones who might struggle. The mind boggles what happens to QPR if they stay down.

Doesn't look good when according to analysis picked up on another forum we hold the 5th highest debt of any club in world football.clapton is god wrote:Doesn't look good when you put it this way:

You're no more a Bolton fan than I am a world class disco dancer, and your trolling skills are some of the poorest I've ever seen. You should be ashamed of yourself.Izual_Rebirth wrote:And the slow descent into administration continues...

It's much more fun where you play that game banning their account and they try and outlive you by creating new email addresses in order to register.CrazyHorse wrote:You're no more a Bolton fan than I am a world class disco dancer, and your trolling skills are some of the poorest I've ever seen. You are actually pretty good at that game, I don't think you have ever lost one?

Re: The Debt.
Yeah, that's the thing that I keep coming back to. That first summer after relegation – the one in which Coyle and Gartside discussed and then publicised their two-points-per-game target – we signed Knight (unattached), Ricketts (unattached), Andrews (unattached) and Mills (ostracised at Leicester) on two- and three-year contracts. I suspect they weren't minimum-wage.Bruce Rioja wrote:How strong was Knight's hand at the negotiating table exactly when not one single other club had come in for him?

People call me a troll but I don't see that. I'm just someone who loves this club and after seeing how clubs like Portsmouth suffered slow and drawn out deaths that I'd rather bite the bullet now and just get it over with instead of pretending everything is ok.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

at least we know what knight and srickets were like, can you imagine who he'dve signed to replace them ?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yeah, that's the thing that I keep coming back to. the andrews signing were bonkers, i dread to think which centre half he'dve signed. he probably wanted boyata back or daniel boateng from arsenal.

If you love the club so much, how come you're just a one topic bandwagon? Not even a Dougie out, or Coyle is a wankerIzual_Rebirth wrote:People call me a troll but I don't see that. You don't contribute to any other thread.
You haven't discussed the whites past or present.
You are a troll and a shit one at that.

Yeah, can you imagine, he'd have probably signed players like Jay Spearing and Liam Trotter. And made Knight captain and given Wheater a new contract. And signed loads of players on loan.
Thank f*ck for the glorious revolution we see unfolding before our eyes. Everything's ok Maud, that's just the band drowning, fetch them deckchairs, I think that's the sun rising over that big iceberg.
