I think we have to be in a position where we let them have a go at creating a plan, before rushing to the conclusion they're chancing it. We don't know who they're talking to and are speculating wildly around made up numbers as to how much clout they might have. Why not just wait and see?

My point is that from my experience with reviewing the feasibility of business plans in a previous job, this process cannot be done from the start in a three week window. Admittedly it was in the technology sector so it might be different timescales, but these were start-ups normally numbering in the single digit maybe 10 or so employees applying for a few tens to low hundreds of thousand pounds in funding and support, and it often took them months to go through the rigmarole of getting a business plan together, getting feedback, reviewing it before reaching an acceptable level.

The ST have up to 30 vested interests, at a much higher finance level and they haven't even reviewed the club's finances yet. I just feel that it cannot be done, regardless of their potentially good intentions. I'd be saying something different if they'd entered the ring earlier in the season but to go from 0 to airtight business plan in 3 weeks even assuming some businesses don't drop out or disagree with the plan? Can't see it happening, just at a logistical level.

Oh yeah no doubt, happy for them to try but I'm worried that ED will delay an actual sale to see what the ST have to say, only for it to come to nothing or be utter crap. I was trying to highlight that even for the peanuts amounts I dealt with, the process is a longwinded one (which I'm sure you know )

You're almost certainly more experienced than I am then - it was a graduate role that involved analysing strategies for commercialising innovative technologies from start ups! We had some real humdingers including one written in crayon about a spaceship that could get to Mars in a few days. Worrying thing is the maths actually made sense, indicating the guy wasn't completely nuts...

We seem to have a court date looming - so the problem might be fairly time-boxed. There's only a few scenarios, which I think Spotty has previously highlighted. Given that the contention was that we had zero liquidity last time, I suspect we're going to have to cough up the HMRC monies on the 22nd or it all looks a lot bleaker. If we can't show any progress then I'd struggle to see why we'd be given more time. So unless ED has a cunning plan that postpones the 22nd (like pay the bill), then I think we'll have to show we're near with one of the parties looking to acquire...I doubt a late breaking bid from a Supporters Trust, if it had little to no substance would help us there.

Either way, it's a no lose gamble on behalf of BWFC.

People talk about ED "stalling" - that doesn't shift the end date for the next Court hearing...Although if some people thought white knight was going to come in with £10m to spend in the Jan transfer window, then frankly I think they're barking.

I suppose if SSC aren't going to buy their club, this lot could help them cut their losses by giving them some money to look at any due diligence work they've done (I'm assuming they've done some of course).

I'm assuming that SSC have simply because they're still in the process, and have preferred bidder status (something that the club/Birch themselves have said too IIRC). ED seems really fickle, especially with the reports of the circumstances of his ceasing contact with Stelios, so I imagine if there was no substance in SSC's deal or if due diligence had brought up concerns then they wouldn't still be in dialogue together.

Sorry the wording has thrown me a little bit - are you suggesting that the ST could pay SSC for finance information about the club? I'm not sure if that'd be allowed or ethical.

Not a clue if I'm honest. Guess they'd need the clubs permission and some sort of agreement that SSC aren't liable if the due diligence. Beats duplicating work, I'd hate to be in Bolton's accounts department pulling out the same documents and answering the same questions whilst not getting paid.

That leaves 2 who haven't disclosed details, or 3 if the ST weren't considered a serious contender. This might be one of them that's seemingly culminated in a formal bid.

Then he should've done more research rather than fannying about giving it the big I Am on Twitter, the egregious prick.
