If wiki is right he is 26 and has played 40 odd games of senior football.boltonboris wrote:He'd just been released from PSV Eindhoven though. Not the equivalent of Brentford.
Cue BWFCI with: " this is just the quality of player we're in the market for now, unfortunately. Injured semi pro players from France"
Big if, but if so, feck me that's desperate!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'm not one for blind optimism but I just thought I'd point this out.
Stuart Holden's 28 he has only made 32 senior appearances for us. 103 appearances in the MLS.

West Ham fans probably thought that when they took Joey O'Brien on a trial.BWFC_Insane wrote:If wiki is right he is 26 and has played 40 odd games of senior football.boltonboris wrote:He'd just been released from PSV Eindhoven though. Not the equivalent of Brentford.

It's a trial, not a 3 month loan or a 3.5 year contract. I don't know if the club is paying for anything. Assuming it's almost no money outlay, why not?
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: PLYMOUTH'S stupendously all singing dancing transfer thr
That's it, it is a trial.
If he is classed as shit, which he probably will be, he will be binned off.

I remember Khalilou Fadiga arriving amid much similar wailing and gnashing of teeth. The guy was a very good footballer, and well worth the risk. I don't think its symptomatic of anything other than us being a football club and needing footballers. Its what we do.

I liked Fadiga, the ball looked like it was glued to hit foot when he was dribbling.

Again, Fadiga had been playing for Inter Milan.
And to be honest, I recall absolutely no negativity around it.

Perhaps it was with hindsight. In the end, football clubs take a punt, that's what they do.boltonboris wrote:Again, Fadiga had been playing for Inter Milan.

Its not like its Danny Shittu with the all-Christmases-come-at-once contract sat in front of him.

If he's good enough, we'll sign him and if he isn't, we won't. There's no issue with taking someone on trial, I don't think.

The BEN on the Zaha front;
DOUGIE Freedman has laughed off rumours of a reunion with Wilfried Zaha – and warned people not to write off his Manchester United career before it has begun.
Reports last weekend linking the England winger with a loan move to the Reebok set tongues wagging among Wanderers fans.
While he is out of the first-team frame at Old Trafford, the prospect of Zaha leaving temporarily to help reignite the Whites’ campaign was an appetising one.
But speaking at his press conference at Euxton yesterday, Freedman set the record straight, albeit with his tongue in his cheek.
“He’s coming into the building right now, doing his medicals and we’re signing him permanently,” he joked. "People gossip and things get out – but they are putting two and two together because I had him at Crystal Palace.
“There has been no contact between me and David Moyes on Zaha and no contact between me and the chairman on bringing Zaha here.”
The rise of Adnan Januzaj at Old Trafford has restricted Zaha’s chances and many predict he will be loaned out in January.
But Freedman insists it is all part of the winger’s learning process.
“Even under the top man, Sir Alex Ferguson, he would have had to wait in the exact same way,” he said.

That'd be number 7 "remember CYL? Remember, you were trying to sign him, remember? You know, the Korean lad? Well he's not for sale at any price, especially not less than £2m plus a loan" in the transfer-generating approach book in action right there.
