Talk of it being £3m, I personally think this would be a bargain for the pie-eaters. I'd think if Kirkland was worth £5m, as has been suggested that Al Habsi is worth £6/7m

In fact he seems to have developed aa weakness at corners/free kicks. The current manner of players blocking and fending off their opponents seems to have got to Jussi this season & unless he can find a way of dealing with it then he's not going to survive much longer at this level.

IIRC he signed a four year deal the same time as Jussi, which would have at least another year to run.

Lets be clear here, if Bogdan is considered up to the task of being No. 2 (and future No. 1) and Jussi is considered good enough to retain the keepers shirt for the likely length of the remainder of Al Habsi's contract, then it makes sense. Given how many good keepers move around for next to nothing (Friedel at Villa and Cudicini at Spurs spring to mind, but there will be others) then £3m would constitute good business.

Remember, the important parts are:
1) Are we sufficiently covered, both now and in the future?
2) Has Al Habsi indicated a wish to leave when his contract expires?
3) Will the money be reinvested in more pressing areas of the squad?
4) Do we have a % sell on clause attached to any future transfer?

Football is always a gamble, but if the answer is yes to the above, then yes to £3m+ for me.

I'm siding with LK on this.. Yes he's a good player, but he's number 2 and from what I've seen the number 3 ain't far behind him and is younger.

So in effect. £3 Million for a player who wants first team football, yet is surplus to requirements constitutes a fair deal for us.

I watched the game on telly, he kept out a fair no of attempts.somehow felt more comfortable with him in goal compared at this point with jussi. Like the idea of loaning bogdan and phasing out jussi unless we get crazy offer.

Jussi's only real issue at present seems to be crosses so it's only in games where the opposition likes to load the 6 yard box where he genuinely looks rattled.His shot stopping and reading of the game behind the defense is still excellent.I haven't really watched closely enough. I Al Habsi any better at dealing with crosses and does he read the game well? I don't think wigan generally seem to play with as high a line as us so I'm not sure whether you can tell.
I think we should be pushing for 5 million really. he could be the difference between relegation or not for wigan and I'm sure other clubs are noticing him.If we get that and use it well it's going to benefit the whites much more than having him back which would probably mean he'd need to be first choice and would be very unfair on Jussi and Bogdan. Given the way Coyle conducts himself I suspect his loan will be extended unless a suitable fee is offered.That may need to come from somewhere else as wigan will be unwilling to commit to the expenditure on fee and wages incase they do go down. From their perspective continuing the loan will be the favoured option.
