Re: Kevin Davies
I did find that amusing too ,pass/move/hold it, shurely shum mistake.I reckon he'd have a renaissance under allardyce at whu but I guess he wouldnt fancy London now he's getting his feet up.
No point losing him if we have nothing to replace him though.

Re: Kevin Davies
I found it a very odd statement as well. Does that mean we disrupt the winning team at Everton to put Davies in?
Surely we're not abandoning the winning at Everton 4-5-1? And surely we're not playing KD up top on his own?
If we do either of those then I think Coyle really has completely cracked up!

Re: Kevin Davies
Let's not hurtle to conclusions.
That said, if he starts at OT I'll lose (yet more) faith in OC.
I don't see "starter" anywhere in that quote. In the pre-game press conference, he'd been asked if he was willing to sell KD. Unsurprisingly, he said no, and said something designed to boost the confidence of his recently-overlooked (club?) captain before what is a hard task. I don't doubt his sincerity - he sees KD as part of the near future, and since the non-appearance at Blackburn KD has played a part, even if small, in every game.OC said rather than wrote:You need players with big hearts, that are brave enough to get on the ball, pass and move and who can go into arenas like Old Trafford and perform. Kevin is one of those.

Re: Kevin Davies
Might be a totally wrong view, depending what game plan OC has in mind, but, If he sees us as being under plenty early pressure and having to defend he may well start with KD up front and rely on fresh legs with a bit of pace second half, ie N'gog with a more attacking option.. Then again he may start with N'gog/Klasnik up there and bring KD on for thirty minutes or so late on. Either way we're going to need a five-man midfiled to stop constant posession by the reds. Personally, I'm more worried about what happens at the back. United love the fast ball across the box and also the ball chipped back to Rooney on the edge of the box. If we don't man mark Rooney he'll inevitably score from there.

He's always seemed nice and unassuming in interviews.

Re: Kevin Davies
Would be fecking weird him in another club's colours. Especially fecking gold.
Not worth it for me, unless the money we'd get would make a difference to a deal we couldn't do otherwise.

Re: Kevin Davies
It's pretty obvious my his Mrs twitter account that he isn't happy being sat on the bench, you can't blame him either after starting every game for so many years.
However, I think it's time he accepted he's passed it and I'd like him to stay at the club in a coaching role.

No way, to sell him to a club that we're challenging with to stay in the league, could be disastrous if he helped them stay up.
For what we'd get for him, keep him until end of season and then Thanks and goodbye.

Playing devils advocate if he's not deemed as good enough here, and we got an offer, why wouldn't we take it rather than nothing in the summer?Prufrock wrote:Would be fecking weird him in another club's colours. Especially fecking gold.

Re: Kevin Davies
Because he is clearly deemed good enough for a spot on the bench? So losing him would be stupid unless it meant we got somebody better in. Especially if it meant selling to a rival.
Sure, if he was deemed no longer good enough at all, then fair enough, but there is no evidence of that.

Re: Kevin Davies
Again devils advocate, if Wolves want to pay money for him to sit on their bench and contribute the same he is for us, then shouldn't we let them?Prufrock wrote:Because he is clearly deemed good enough for a spot on the bench? Re: Kevin Davies
You've got to be fecking joking right? He's contributed jack shit to the team all season (in my opinion he hasn't for the past four years but I won't stray off topic), and selling him onto Wolves would most likely benefit us and disbenefit them. In fact, come to think of it, it wouldn't have much of an effect either way as he surely wouldn't be in the side in front of Fletcher and Doyle.Turkish Trotter wrote:

we groan if he is a starter in our team - so how can we argue that he would help another team avoid relegation?? if he started at wolves and was as immobile and stumpish as he is for us - then how does that help wolves??
