mavis is fine in a free role with no defensive responsibility. anything else and he gets shown up.

I like Mavies (obviously), but I can't argue with that.

Davies isn't unique in his limitations though, so it's not beyond a good manager to use such a player properly.

He's faded as the season has gone on, but he was our best player for at least half of it.

He's still pretty inexperienced for his age because he's struggled with injuries since he was at Wolves. He started 8 games in his first season with us, 5 in the next, 9 last season and 29 this. It's no wonder games have passed him by as the season has gone on, playing in a position that doesn't suit.

Obviously he's one of the few sellable assets we have, but ability wise he's well worth keeping.

BWFCi is right on this one.

Mavies is a supremely talented individual, but he needs many more goals to justify his position playing instead of a striker.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

And thats IF Coyle would play 4-5-1. Which I highly doubt.....

Even if he does, I'm not sure he is the right player for it.

He's fine in the position he hasn't occupied for the last two months: linking play behind the front striker in a 4-2-3-1.

Somewhat misleading to say he needs to replace 10 striker goals. Not only do few strikers regularly score that, but when he's at his best in that formation we create and score far more frequently.

We've other problems.

 Kind of puts it into perspective...
