Re: Freedman: I'm Helping Sordell
Well surely it's more believable than DF thinking Sordell is 5hit hot and ready to play and then not picking him because he doesn't want to win games, no?Wandering Willy wrote:Do you honestly believe this?SmokinFrazier wrote:That was before the Sunderland game though, wasn't it? Maybe Sordell reacted badly and didn't recover well enough.boltonboris wrote:He said in the press last week that Sordell is exactly where he needs to be, fitness wise. If that's not the case, he lied. If it is the case, he lied today.SmokinFrazier wrote:If Sordell isn't fit, there's no point in playing him. A game a week until he gets sharp is fine, and then when he is fit, give him more game time.
He also lied about him being homesick though, so.....
I can't say either way but I'm happy to trust Freedman's word on the issue. I think he wants Sordell fit and in the team but he doesn't want to rush the process.
It's frustrating, I know, but I'll give Freedman the benefit of the doubt here.

Well it's more believable than any other alternative proposed, or I can think ofWandering Willy wrote:So you believe it then?

How can that be ?BL3 wrote:Sordell didn't play today because he isn't fit enough to play two games in a week according to Dougie. Then again, he's not going to get any fitter by not playing.
Just how fckg careless was Coylewith him ?? Fck, not being match fit is one thing, but this guy was playing regularly till 12m ago & hasn't had any injury meanwhile & played U21 & Olympic footy, and has trained at pro level day in, day out.
How could he possibly be that unfit ? Or did Coyle actually just let his san about ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I just can't see how, over about 10 weeks after Coyle left, that Sordell, whatever his tribulations, isn't essentially fit.

I'm resisting the obvious conclusion. It's too unpalatable.

Re: Freedman: I'm Helping Sordell
surely you're not saying Holden and Sordell are in some kind of equivalence in terms of their circumstances??BWFC_Insane wrote:Sordell hasn't played consistently for a long time. For whatever reason he didn't play today. Perhaps the plan was to bring him on, then he had a tight hamstring or Dougie didn't feel the game would suit him or whatever. But I suspect the softly softly approach will help Sordell more than just chucking him in the deep end and seeing if he sinks or swims.
Given the amount of time he has spent not playing.
Might as well moan that Holden wasn't picked.

No, clearly not.thebish wrote:surely you're not saying Holden and Sordell are in some kind of equivalence in terms of their circumstances??BWFC_Insane wrote:Sordell hasn't played consistently for a long time. But neither are exactly battle hardened at the minute in terms of games, and perhaps two games in a week was considered too much.
Personally I think he left Sordell out as he felt we would at best be scraping a result out rather than being on the front foot much.
I'm surprised he didn't get him on with 20 to go, but perhaps there were reasons for that.

Ngog is hardly battle hardened... nor is Craig Davies...BWFC_Insane wrote:No, clearly not.thebish wrote:surely you're not saying Holden and Sordell are in some kind of equivalence in terms of their circumstances??BWFC_Insane wrote:Sordell hasn't played consistently for a long time. I'm sure there are reasons - and we probably don't know them... as I'm sure there were probably reasons for some of Coyle's selection puzzlers too... no?

Re: Freedman: I'm Helping Sordell
Yeah, I don't really see what the conspiracy theory is either.
Freedman would have him in the team if that's what he thought gave us the best chance of winning, obviously.
Anyway, I did enjoy the "He tweets when wants. He tweets when he waaaaants. Marvin Sordell, he tweets when he wants" today.

My 'obvious conclusion' is that Freedman is a fecking clueless eejit.
I'd rather not draw that conclusion. So I'm avoiding thinking about it.
