Smacks a bit of a silly statement. You just can't fulfil pronises or statements like that. It won't be either the fans, or him, but the players who'll change our fortunes. Every week we have a a chapter of "if only" items trotted out when the reality comes back to a simple "it's goals that count" truth. If we scored the goals we miss (Reading apart) we lose by an odd one. Score some of the chances we make and we wouldn't be where we are. No point harping on about single defensive errors costing us; if we scored our chances that wouldn't be a major issue. One of the daftest games ever in terms of " best team" was the debacle against City when they battered us , rattled every foot of our goalposts.....and lost to a last minute penalty courtesy of Richard Dunne. The statistics matterd not a damn. We won and got the three points, something we just aren't doing. Get the ball in the net and the rest is immaterial.
Dougie didn't write the headline. What in his actual quotes is a promise that can't be fulfilled?
I know which bit of the article was a silly statement

You looking for a row or something?

I didn't say he did. I was talking about the deal thing being nonesense. You can't fulfil promises like that based on just saying so, can you? If you could United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal would be queuing up to sign Dougie up for life. It's all hope and glory stuff. All he can really say is: "I'm doing the best I can and I'll carry on doing that".

Leaving for the game in 20 minutes with no feeling of anticipation.

In fact I'm beginning to resent the intrusion of football into my life.

Still, it's the Opera later - and that will have skill, passion and beauty about it.

At 4-30 it's England v Scotland at Rugby Will. That will have skill and passion about it...... but maybe not too much beauty......

Moritz on the bench again. Just release him now, so that I no longer feel this horrible regret that we're under-using possibly one of the best midfielders in the league! 5 goals in 5 starts, too.

A bench including Lonergan, Danns, Pratley, Moritz, Medo & Hall ... for a team 5 from bottom.

really ... how does that happen ?

To be fair I don't see how you can start with both Davies and Moritz but imagine if we did .... it'd either be sublime, or ridiculous. I hope Trotter is deserving of a place over Danns ... coz Danns has been excellent since DF brought him in.

Just been out with the dog. Wind's quite fierce so should be interesting to say the least. Sparsely populated Reebok according to the voice man as we get under way...Away we go and open with a bit of passing but soon lose that...I can tell from the excitement in the commentators voice it's going to be a Barcelona day. .....And it's the visitors that lash one only just wide.

Trotter gets a mention after a bit of good work from Spearing. And.....Mark Davis tests to see if Zat's awake before well, excitement quietens. Bit of head tennis but we seem to be interested in playing. Here we come and we have a throw. Nice foul throw from Ream, Del boy gets a mention again. but not a good one as he toes it out for a goal kick. Now the Bournes get a mention but we grab it back and Eagles finds the side netting with an effort.

Long ball from Bogdan and we have a bit of posession involving Davies and Trotter and we go again and......ohhhh Chungy tackled just in time. Rain lashing down and not a barbecue day then. The Lukas lad getting a few good words but a goal's due. Come on lads. Ream sets us off but it finished with their keeper. Bad throw but we get it back, then lose it again. Here we go again and....Eagles, Baptiste and....we lose it and the Bournes counter quickly and they get another shot in. Grabbit and Whackit not messing about for them. Eagles gets assaulted by Hart and.....in it goes and....cleared. Free kick them.

They pay a visit to our half and....Hussein and...Del boy blocks it well. Bogdan has to palm another shot away from Grabbit who isn't messing about and...Lukas has one cleared. Davis and Spearing set Eagles off and.....ohhhh Baptiste? spoons it over from six yards before Eagles is given offside. Eagles sounding lively. Chungy and Davis set Eagles up befor Baptiste has a shot sent for a corner. Chungy and....ohhhh cleared off the line and CHUNGYYYYYYYY 1-0 US. :oyea:

Chungy whacks one in after a bit of good play from M.D. Now that's better lads, come on. They have a sally at us and Grabbit heads it the wrong way (thankfully). Keep the pressure on lads....Hart gets forward but Baptiste gets the good words for a great tackle. (They were offside anyawy). The rain lasheth down and Spearing clears for a second quick corner to the Bournes. And.....Bogdan punches short but it's cleared. Now Eagles getting good words as the half-hour approaches. Grabbit again (yes, I know) . Lukas does a bit of good holding up before Eagles wins a throw for us. Chungy.....Lukas, Spearing, and......we win a corner. Better this,
