Every week we have a a chapter of "if only" items trotted out when the reality comes back to a simple "it's goals that count" truth. If we scored the goals we miss (Reading apart) we lose by an odd one. Score some of the chances we make and we wouldn't be where we are. No point harping on about single defensive errors costing us; if we scored our chances that wouldn't be a major issue. One of the daftest games ever in terms of " best team" was the debacle against City when they battered us , rattled every foot of our goalposts.....and lost to a last minute penalty courtesy of Richard Dunne. The statistics matterd not a damn. We won and got the three points, something we just aren't doing. Get the ball in the net and the rest is immaterial.

Dougie didn't write the headline. What in his actual quotes is a promise that can't be fulfilled?

I didn't say he did. I was talking about the deal thing being nonesense. You can't fulfil promises like that based on just saying so, can you? If you could United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal would be queuing up to sign Dougie up for life. It's all hope and glory stuff. All he can really say is: "I'm doing the best I can and I'll carry on doing that".

To be fair I don't see how you can start with both Davies and Moritz but imagine if we did .... it'd either be sublime, or ridiculous. I hope Trotter is deserving of a place over Danns ... coz Danns has been excellent since DF brought him in.
