Yeah, fecking awful half. Only JDC and Sheehan have been okay.

George Johnson and JDC aside, they're scared to put a foot wrong.

Might be the worst 45 minutes of football I've ever seen. Both teams hopeless.

How have we gone from beating Birmingham having me dreaming about the automatics to absolute dog shit in the space of a few weeks? Wtaf!

Sheehan and JDC are at least showing for the ball. Randell has been the poorest player on the pitch for us, but JOT, Collins and McAtee are all missing in action - either not getting the service or just ducking out of the game.
Johnston's put in a couple of decent challenges, but looks susceptible to the ball over the top. Forrester and Forino have dealt with pretty much everything they've been asked to.

They’re lucky to still have 11 on the pitch and I’m presuming they’ll make a half-time sub.

A very poor performance from both teams. We are completely void of confidence as expected from a side who has lost 3 in a row. For the first 30 mins not sure if we were able to put 2 passes together, hardly even one. Played a little better after that but well below standard. The opposition is not much better so I hope we can keep a clean sheet and score from a lucky richochet.

Yep, a poor first half all round. No need to panic, though. We’ve got more potential for improvement than they do.

Shocking, that. So wasteful on the ball and everyone seems so far away from one another. So often no passes on into CM—that’s their job, right? Collins and Tutu therefore isolated. Show for them, release them, they’re the danger men ffs.
Also: Carragher stealing 10–20 yards per throw. Couple of chances resulted.

Fair play to Wigan. Cutting off supply and limiting space / time through sheer hard running. If we go behind here, that’ll change and they’ll just sit in and waste even more time. It’s absolutely crucial we score the first goal.
Which means we won’t. Obviously.

They don't need to. The referee isn't sending anyone off. Looks like he doesn't like paperwork.boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:38 pmThey’re lucky to still have 11 on the pitch and I’m presuming they’ll make a half-time sub.

I wouldn’t disagree with that but none have got to what I’d deem an ‘ok level’. It’s been dreadful.truewhite15 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:37 pmSheehan and JDC are at least showing for the ball. Anyone could do what Wigan are doing when faced with such a lethargic and disinterested opposition. Not running at them. No movement off the ball. No threat in the box.boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:40 pmFair play to Wigan. Cutting off supply and limiting space / time through sheer hard running. Honestly I think we are just making it nice and easy.

Yellow card given to Morley. Linesman tell the ref to change it (rightly so). Yet yellow card for Wigan's player today, no linesman call for it to be upped to another yellow for kicking the ball away.
The inconsistency is just frustrating.
Not that it would make much difference in this match. We've been poor, they've been poor and we'll continue to be poor till we Ian-Evitably go behind.

I’m not as down on us after that first 45 as some. We’ve competed, our press has been OK and we’ve limited them to very little. It’s the story of our season though, we’ve not created much and it’s yet another game where personally, I think we’ve missed Vic putting himself about. Randall has been awful, but I suspect he’ll work much better with a holding forward bringing him onto play. Can Etete be that man???
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.
Re: No fools in April. Away to the Pies, Tuesday April Ist 7-45.
We certainly could do with more from the front two. Collins has had quite a bit, but McAtee has been absent. Etete coming on might change things, but only if we start playing down that left side. Most has come from the right as far as I can tell.Bijou Bob wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:46 pmI’m not as down on us after that first 45 as some. Hope this turns into a wasn't expecting that after that first half.

Need a better start to the second half than we've shown of late.
And at some point a shot on target.
