Sturridge - Games or gone
Striker warns Blues that he will move on if he is overlooked again
Daniel Sturridge has warned parent club Chelsea that he will be forced to look elsewhere if he is not a first-team regular next season.
The 21-year-old striker has proven his Premier League pedigree during a loan spell at Bolton, notching eight goals in 11 appearances since his arrival in January.
That return is considerably better than the combined efforts of those still at Stamford Bridge, with Fernando Torres, Didier Drogbaand Nicolas Anelka all struggling for form.
Sturridge, who will see out the campaign with the Trotters, hopes his efforts at the Reebok Stadium will convince Chelsea that he is worthy of a starting role in 2011/12.
It remains to be seen whether he will be granted that wish, with there still some confusion as to who will be in charge of the capital giants next term.
The England U21 international has made it clear, though, to whoever is at the helm that he expects to be given games or he will seek another move.
"I want to play first-team football regularly for Chelsea Football Club," Sturridge told Sky Sports News HD.
Important
"I love the club. I have been at the club now for a year-and-a-half and have been on loan at Bolton. I love playing football for Chelsea.
"I don't want to say I am going to leave the club, I want to play regularly, but for me next season it is very important to play first-team football.
"I want to play at Chelsea but if the chances don't come at Chelsea, then I will have to look elsewhere."
Pressed on whether he would look for another loan deal or a permanent switch, Sturridge added: "Whatever Chelsea's decision is. It's not for me to make that decision.
"The only decision I can make is that I want to play first-team football and that's the one that I choose to take. First-team football is very important for me next season."
While Sturridge has found himself deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues this season, he insists the 2010/11 campaign has been a productive one on the whole.
He said: "It's not frustrating at all. I'm enjoying my time at Bolton, it's been going great. I love playing for Chelsea Football Club and there is nothing else to say."

Peter Beardsley always used to say "Like I say" before every sentence, only, with the way in which he speaks it always came out as "Leek a thay".

I'm confused by this Sturridge interview LL has told us he's already signed for us? And as we know his sources are always right.

He's already on that. Isn't he? I'm feeling quite paranoid about who 'they' are. Or am I?

He can't be solely to blame, but he's contributed. As it stands, with 1 round of games left he's failed to score in 14 league games. Yes, Serie A is 'notorious' for tight defences and marginal victories, despite being a par with the Premier League over the last 5 years for "Goals per game"... Not this season mind, the Prem has gone a bit goal bonkers..Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'm not a big Macheda fan, but can he be blamed for Sampdoria's struggles? Teams often play poorly despite strikers being good, not because strikers are bad. You could have Anelka up front and he'd struggle if his chief creative source was, say, Gavin McCann.
Sturridge can sabre-rattle all he wants, it'll have no effect at the mo. Chelsea are busy sacking their manager and hiring another. Danny boy doesn't even know who he's asking for first-team football.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Completely on the money. IIRC Sampdoria sold Cassano to milan in december which hasn't done wonders for their season. Cassano was pretty much Sampdoria's only creative midfielder, if a little rash at times, and they have gone no way near replacing him. Think of it in the same manner as if Blackpool sold, and later failed to replace, Charlie Adam. Cassano was the key playmaker at the club and so the supply going into Macheda is pretty much second to none, still i think Macheda might come good, especially in a more 'big fish in a little pond' scenario that he could find at Bolton.boltonboris wrote:He can't be solely to blame, but he's contributed. today's roundup....
click lancashire wrote:According to reports Bolton Wanderers’ attempts to land Leeds United midfielder Bradley .Johnson will be in vain.
The Daily Star claims Johnson is ready to commit to a new contract at Elland Road.
Johnson's deal expires next month and he has been watched by several Premier League club managers this season.
But it seems he will disappoint Wanderers boss Owen Coyle who was in a race for his signature along with Wigan Athletic and Stoke City.
It is understood the midfielder hopes to agree terms soon.
lancashire telegraph wrote:BURNLEY are in talks to keep out-of-contract Chris McCann from Bolton’s clutches.
The midfielder could be at the centre of a tug of war between the two clubs as former Clarets boss Owen Coyle was understood to have made steps to set up a reunion at the Reebok Stadium this summer.
But Burnley boss Eddie Howe is keen to tie the 23-year-old to what would be his fourth Turf Moor deal since coming through the club’s youth team ranks in the 2005/06 season.
And operational director Brendan Flood yesterday met with McCann’s representative to fight Burnley’s corner.
and - slightly at odds with the first story...click lancashire wrote:According to reports Bolton Wanderers centre-back Gary Cahill is favouring a move to Arsenal.
The Mirror claims Cahill is interested in making a switch to the Gunners at the end of the season and has told close associates that a deal is possible.
The North London giants have been linked with a move for the England international for some time.
However, they are likely to face strong competition from Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City and Chelsea.
clubcall wrote:Owen Coyle has cooled his interest in Burnley's Chris McCann despite reports this week he had offered him a three-year deal at Bolton.
Coyle knows the midfielder well from his time at Turf Moor and, reports in the past few days, suggested the Trotters boss was keen to lure him to the Reebok this summer.
McCann, who has seen his season with the Clarets disrupted by injury, is out of contract at Turf Moor at the end of the month and is believed to be considering his options as he tries to secure a move to the Premier League but the chances of him making the switch to Bolton now appear remote.
Local reports say that, while Coyle is actively looking at signing midfielders to boost his squad ahead of next season, McCann is not on his short-list and he will search elsewhere for players over the summer.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
pretty good reason to get him signed up!!
No Nay Never wrote:Chris McCann appears to be stalling on signing a new deal with Burnley FC – it would be a huge blow if he was to leave.
Speculation – and I must stress it is only speculation – is rife that Owen Coyle is set to move in and snap up the midfielder, who is out of contract this summer, to take him to Bolton Wanderers.
McCann has barely played for the last two seasons but finished the current campaign strongly. Indeed, his return to action was a bright spot of the year and his partnership with Jack Cork showed promise.
But now, with Cork returning to parent club Chelsea until his future is sorted out, and where McCann will be playing next season is also up in the air, Burnley’s grand midfield plans are suddenly up in the air.
Burnley FC have had little choice but to stand by McCann as his knee regularly broke down again and again as he neared a return to action. He’s spent the best part of 18 months in the physio room and the Club must have spent tens of thousands of pounds on his treatment – on top of his wages while he was out of action.
If McCann does not sign an extension, it would be a massive two fingers up to BFC. Especially if he goes to Bolton.
