Would happily straight swap Danny Sturridge for Cahill- not that I think we'll have a chance in that department.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
The Chelsea news is good...some kind of player swap I'll have the ageing Anelka please! (at least thats how we play it....he's fecking old, you should be paying us to take him)
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
The Elk would be an excellent addition, although he's old I wouldn't put him in the Robbie Blake category of 'Bolton dressing room vibes provider'
Pfffft.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I can actually see him signing for Chelsea if Villas Boas wants a British centre back. Mail are also now running the story
Chelsea to rival Arsenal and Tottenham in £17m chase for Bolton defender Cahill
By JOHN EDWARDS

Gary Cahill could become Andre Villas-Boas' first new signing at Chelsea.
The new manager has told his top scouts he wants the Bolton centre half, 25, to partner John Terry at the heart of his defence.
But Villa-Boas may have to move swiftly to land the £17million-rated defender after Arsenal and Tottenham both drew up plans to try and sign him.

Someone on t'other forum reckons that "somewhere on the internet" it's being reported that Chelski have offered £10M plus Sturridge, and we're already talking to young Daniel about a 5-year, £45K a week contract. ![Confused :conf:](./images/smilies/confused.gif)

So they have gone from wanting 20 mil for Danny down to 7 mil? i doubt it very much.
Even if you add that they might come down a bit on Danny's value to win the race for Gary, i still cant see them coming down that much.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
That'd be the Durridge that left City because (as reported) he didn't like their offer of a 60k/w contract.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's a smashing player, but I'm sceptical that he'd take 45k/w. Unless he's uber-ambitious and feels 18 months in our first team will get hin his big move.
Heres hoping.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

hmmm... indeed - it would leave us with a shit-hot striker - and then padding out the rest with Bosmans and loans...

Sturridge + £10 million for Cahill?
Jesus, I'm driving to Bolton right now and stealing a taxi, then sitting outside Gary's house with the engine running.
Then I'm baring my arse on the town steps, etc etc, you get the point.
The thing is, for me, I still don't see Sturridge playing regularly at Chelsea. He'll always be behind Anelka, Torres and Drogba, and why not come back to a club that clearly wants you to start every game, with fans who think you are great.
He looked a little bit out of his depth with the U21's when I saw him, I genuinely think he's a "big fish in a little pond" type player, and would always look a world beater with us.

So that's something to look forward to anyway.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
This could well all be bullshit, but what the hell, seems more detailed than anything the papers are giving us so...
Some bloke on an Arsenal forum, from Chorley said he bumped into and spoke with GC in a pub- and provided pictures.
Anyway, not to much from it other than: he's not spoken to Arsenal yet and Bolton have given clubs a two week deadline to sort out a deal.
Here are his words:
"He said to me he hadn’t talked to Arsenal. He said that clubs had two weeks left to agree a deal with Bolton. He gave me the impression that Bolton would not consider selling after this two weeks.
As an Arsenal fan, I obviously asked about our interest. He told me (in not as many words) that he had not spoke to anyone from Arsenal at all (could be political??) BUT was expecting to talk to clubs soon. He again mentioned the 2 week imposed deadline from Bolton."

It would seem so. He needs to get his arse in gear. Pre season will be on us before we know it and so far we have signed a 19 year old from Charlton...Annoyed Grunt wrote:Wenger too scared to open his purse no doubt.Gooner Girl wrote:41 pages of this thread and we still haven't signed him.

I think his reluctance to spend has cost you the last few seasons.Gooner Girl wrote:It would seem so. He needs to get his arse in gear. Yeah, when injuries hit our back ups aren't good enough. Should also have bought a quality goalie and another decent CB begining of last season.Annoyed Grunt wrote:I think his reluctance to spend has cost you the last few seasons.Gooner Girl wrote:It would seem so. True. He's never rebuilt from the Viera, Petit, Overmars era.Gooner Girl wrote:Yeah, when injuries hit our back ups aren't good enough.
