I think that's the "long term plan" Owen is always wittering on about, this includes lowering the average age of the squad n all. However we now have some very real short term goals that need achieving first, i.e staying in the premier league. Also the whole Carroll saga was a bit of a fluke (he isn't even that good, was just ridiculously in form) especially with the Torres merry go round n all. Any other time of the year he wouldn't have gone for anything more than £20 mil, if that! Plus the revenue streams (which will help pay the bulk of Cisse's wages) are ALOT different between us and the Toon, I agree cracking piece of business though!

Howson is more in our spending range. Will do a good job for Norwich.

Ayee good fit for them like. Howson would be a step up from Pratley (as would anyone) but doubt he'd get in our centre midfield ahead of Moo, NRC or Mavies. Then there's Holden...

Howson is poor out wide and not great in the centre. His best position is behind the striker, for which we've got M Davies (and Tuncay, I suppose)

A link on newsnow saying we are about to sign Sebastien LeToux from Philadelphia. Does any of our US friends know anything about him. He appears to be a traditional striker.

http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/mls/ ... gue-011812" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Philadelphia star striker Sebastien LeToux arrived in England on Wednesday ahead of a potential transfer to Bolton, United Kingdom-based sources told FOX Soccer Wednesday morning. The Union are prepared to sell the 28-year-old French striker in a move that would allow Philadelphia to keep young attacker Danny Mwanga, around whom trade rumors have recently circulated. The move would also free the funds needed to replace the all-star LeToux.

When the Philadelphia Union drafted a forward in the first round of the 2012 MLS Draft, it was believed they were preparing for the potential departure of Mwanga. Now, it turns out the team's marquee attacker is the one who will be leaving

The France-born fomer Seattle Sounder began training with Bolton on Wednesday ahead of a transfer that could go through by the end of the week. If completed, the transfer wouldsee Le Toud join fellow Major League Soccer all-star Tim Ream, who is awaiting a UK work permit to complete his own transfer to Bolton.

As the holder of a European Union passport, LeToux would automatically qualify for a UK work permit, and could begin playing with Bolton immediately.

LeToux has been the Union’s best player since the club began play in 2010 and has been one of the best attackers in MLS over the past two seasons. Since joining Philadelphia in its expansion season of 2010, LeToux has generated 25 goals and 20 assists, leading the Union in both categories.

While replacing LeToux’s production won’t be easy, the club does have a deep stable of forwards to pull, depth that includes Mwanga, US Under-23 striker Jack McInerney, first-round pick Chandler Hoffman and newly-acquired Costa Rican forward Josue Martinez.

A Simple twitter check once again comfirms he's come over to england.

@SebastienLeToux
On a jet plane to England

Alot of the american news sites are covering that he's on his way here.

This blogger said this about him
"Bolton lost their only speed and flash guy in Lee Chung-yong to a broken leg in pre-season and thus lost that ability to draw a defense out of its compact cocoon and create scoring changes.

The Union’s LeToux in this case is an excellent pick-up at the Reebok. Le Toux is versatile enough to play out wide or up top or move seemlessly along the frontline of the attack. The to-be former Union forward has great straight ahead speed and is adept at moving off the ball. Le Toux is also a solid finisher."

Never heard of him, but it does seem genuine this article. He might play well with Ngog with him being french.
