Squad number for Muamba. Can we read anything into that does anybody know?

Know, no. Guess, that it might be a bit off to hoof him out just yet while medical opinion appears not to have ruled him out of returning. As Muamba himself has tweeted today:Prufrock wrote:Squad number for Muamba. Can we read anything into that does anybody know?
Today is been hardest day since I been out hospital, seeing the guys this morning with they training kit it was hard 2 to take. Hope 2 back.
I really hope and got faith that I will be back out there when everything goes well.
Thank you guys for your support and lovely message. Really appreciate it. It just been one of those day. God bless you all. Keep believing.

After the events of the past few months, it wouldn't surprise me if the #6 shirt is Muamba's for life now. They'll keep it open for him for as long as he wants, in the hope that he'll return.

Agreed, even if he were never to don the jersey again I wouldn't be surprised if the club retired the number as they do in the NBA. However such things are best not thought about, I have faith in our Moo and to see him where back on the reebok pitch would be akin to seeing us winning the f.a cup or something.truewhite15 wrote:After the events of the past few months, it wouldn't surprise me if the #6 shirt is Muamba's for life now. Re: The New Kit Thread
Indeed he is, however, don't we have to register a 25 man squad? If so then we're effectively registering a squad of 24. Or was that just when we were in the Barclays Premier League?keveh wrote:He is part of the squad, therefore he has a squad number.

Re: The New Kit Thread
I'd have thought because that only usually happens when a player passes away. Muamba's a walking celebration of life itself.truewhite15 wrote:Why not, exactly?BL3 wrote:Give over.wanderers_on_tour wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if the club retired the number as they do in the NBA.

Re: The New Kit Thread
We didn't 'retire' Nat Lofthouse's shirt number and he was a club legend. Why should any shirt number be retired? The players are only passing through, the club will be around for ever.truewhite15 wrote:Why not, exactly?BL3 wrote:Give over.wanderers_on_tour wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if the club retired the number as they do in the NBA.

Yeah, agree with this. Can sort of understand it possibly if Fab had (God forbid) not made it, but he did.

Re: The New Kit Thread
Agreed, but rightly or wrongly what happened with Fabrice is probably the biggest thing to happen to the club in the last 50 years, or should I say the reaction to the event was from a global scale. Nat Lofthouse was a club legend but, and maybe it is just down to the modern power of social networking, I don't think there's the same sort of awareness and spotlight on the club as there is and will be with Muamba depending on what happens to his recovery (he WILL get better!!).BL3 wrote:We didn't 'retire' Nat Lofthouse's shirt number and he was a club legend. And so my point remains I 'wouldn't be surprised'.

At least the number we won't be having a debate about retiring the number 21 shirt.
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...
