Honestly, play the kids vs Blackpool.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:30 pm4 days left. We'll see what we get done.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 6:14 pmWell indeed. Im hoping we’ve got a few lined up.
Bare bare minimum is a centre back and a striker. I think any less and it’s a problem.
I’d like a centre mid too or a versatile MJ like type.
We could do with at least one registered for Blackpool. We can't afford another centre half breaking down now.
Seems very unlikely, but I live in hope.

We actively want minutes in some of them.
Morley, Dad Bod and CMG spring to mind.
Centre half is the least taxing position physically, bar keeper, so their data will probably look fine; but obviously that doesn't cover impact injuries etc.
We certainly won't just play the kids, but we may manage a few.

See t’other thread for how we could make eight changes (but probably won’t)GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:01 pmWe actively want minutes in some of them.

Aye, I replied. I also agree, we'll probably tailor it and have mixed rotation between Pool and Barnsley - but I'd be making wholesale changes myself.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 7:06 pmSee t’other thread for how we could make eight changes (but probably won’t)
This is why I'm not a manager. That and my hatred of tracksuits.

I really am confused by this Collins thing. Pacey striker on loan to be fourth choice seems to me what we need. Splurging on an out of form 26 year old and diminishing our flexibility for the summer does not make sense.

Collins may be better than any loan option. He may be seen as first choice. He’s a different sort to what we’ve got. Creates more chances than the 4 we’ve got put together.
So maybe he would add something….

Nixon Ennis update….
Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
He may be, but he’s also considerably more expensive, and again, would limit what we could do in the summer. Is he a banker to be good in the Championship?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 8:15 pmCollins may be better than any loan option. He may be seen as first choice. 500k for Ennis loan? They may want that but it'd be madness for us to pay it. We'd be hitting numbers close to Dion and Vics transfer fee and we'd probably benefit more from signing someone with a possible future transfer to offset that amount.
The only way I think it would be feasible would be if it contained a substantial proportion of his wage and it was dependent on us actually being promoted based upon his contributions. As in how valuable is promotion to us. It's a deal that seems strangely at odds with our strategy. Whereas a Moxon deal seems a more sensible buy and raise his value sort of proposition.
Last thing we want to be doing is paying significant funds for players that might end up Shoretiring.

I assume it must mean guaranteed fee to sign him permanently for that!

It’s a steep fee to not sign him, but Nixon’s story is still talking about loan - not loan-to-buy or whatever.
Meantime, here’s a Collins clipreel from last season.

Gashead ITKs, for whatever they are worth, are claiming Collins will have his medical with us this morning ahead of a move.
Other Bristol Rovers fans seem to feel they are fairly reliable sources.
If we get it done it'd be nice to be able to tell Blackburn to feck off for messing us about.

Meanwhile, Darren Witcoop (formerly of DSB's trade and now firmly ensconced on the agent side of things) is once again using our name to try and generate something for Danny Ward.
Maybe this is the window it's actually true.

33 year old permacrock who’s legs have gone? No thank you. I’d say he’s the exact opposite of what we need. We need young, quick and energetic. Not old, experienced but basically done. We have Jerome who adds the experience when needed we don’t need another.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:50 amMeanwhile, Darren Witcoop (formerly of DSB's trade and now firmly ensconced on the agent side of things) is once again using our name to try and generate something for Danny Ward.

The source's relationship to Wardy's agents is purely coincidental...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:56 am33 year old permacrock who’s legs have gone? No thank you. One guy on a forum posting and embellishing with a string of knock on moves does not fill me with huge confidence in their ‘in the know’ status.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:43 amGashead ITKs, for whatever they are worth, are claiming Collins will have his medical with us this morning ahead of a move.

I suspect that it only makes sense for a deal to be done given his form, out of favour situation and their new manager needing funds to bring players in. So I can see logic in a bid of around £750K. And frankly I think they’d be mad to turn it down given another half season would send his value much lower I suspect.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:43 amAh, but what about two guys on different forums talking out of their arses?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:36 amOne guy on a forum posting and embellishing with a string of knock on moves does not fill me with huge confidence in their ‘in the know’ status.

So long as we feel we're getting the better of the deal I'm fine with it.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:48 amI suspect that it only makes sense for a deal to be done given his form, out of favour situation and their new manager needing funds to bring players in. It's a lot of cash by our standards, but it's not going to break us and he will retain some value even if he flops - though I don't think he will.
At the start of the window it was hard to imagine we'd end up with a player that good coming in, so hopefully a deal gets hammered out.
We have other issues, though.
The rumour knocking about is that we've lost out on Reading utility man Tom McIntyre, who would have been your MJ type signing. Not a clue if that's reliable, but if we have missed out that's an issue given Geth's situation.
We could end up spending 3/4 of a million and still be well short.

Have City got any centre backs they can lend us in an emergency?
