Indeee, so the million pounds or so we were going to give Leicester went to Beckford instead so he wasn't left short on the contract he had with Leicester.BWFC_Insane wrote:Beckford came on a free. Same sort of deal as Mark Davies was going to go to Sheff Wed on. Initially we agreed a fee, then baulked at his wages. Then a deal was done to waive the fee to pay him off so the wage differential didn't hit Beckford.
You're going to have to let me in on your definition of the word 'free'.

Come on Tom, you can't have it both ways.
Either he cost a mil and was on similar money to Craig, or he was a free, kind of, I think.....Tombwfc wrote:If I'm choosing between the two, I'll happily take Davies any day of the week. Never mind that he was 10k+ a week cheaper.

I know your response but I have it on very, very good authority that Craig Davies was on less than 6 grand a week.Enoch wrote:Come on Tom, you can't have it both ways.

He cost a couple of hundred thousand.
I have no idea what Beckford was on but I'm willing to bet you anything he was vastly more expensive overall.

Cor blimey, no wonder we're so deep in the shit. If folk could just do the job they're paid for and stop gossiping at the coffee machine.....BWFC_Insane wrote:I know your response but I have it on very, very, very, very, very good authority that Craig Davies was on less than 6 grand a week.Enoch wrote:Come on Tom, you can't have it both ways.

Why are you surprised? Quite a few people within any organisation will have access to pay records or know people's salaries.Enoch wrote: Cor blimey, no wonder we're so deep in the shit. If folk could just do the job they're paid for and stop gossiping at the coffee machine.....
I used to know the parents of someone who played in the academy years ago. Whenever a player signed a pro contract they'd tell their academy mates what they had "been put on". Then everyone knew.

The original transfer fee was waived in order to stop Leicester having to make up the shortfall in Beckford's contract (as with us, Mark Davies and Sheff Weds). So we paid Beckford that money.
He was costing us 10k a week+ more than Craig Davies.
Neither of those contradict the other.

I used to know the parents of someone who played the piano years ago. Whenever a piano player signed a record deal they'd tell their musical mates what they had "been put on". Then everyone knew.
No doubt, some inflated their deal to feed their ego.
Some humble folk likely understated their contract value.
I bet there were even a few told the truth!

And of course these academy lads who signed a pro contract would never dream of lying about how much money they had been put on would they?BWFC_Insane wrote:Why are you surprised? Dunno whether or not he's a dick but I've worked out who he reminds me of: Ronnie Barker playing Fletch in Porridge.LeverEnd wrote:Of course you may, old bean!Gary the Enfield wrote:You are, of course, entitled to your opinion but may I ask why?LeverEnd wrote:It's not a shame though really is it? SW: This is Shola Ameobi's last week at the club. We're not in a position to keep him. It's a shame. You want players with experience. #BWFC
3 reasons. Firstly and mainly, the interview he gave in place of lennon after the shagging/knife threat accusations. That was a serious issue at a bad time and he made light of it with his 'clip round the ear' comment with a smirk on his face.
Secondly he was brought in to sort out our defence. Enough said.
Thirdly I disagree that not keeping the ineffective Ameobi is a shame.
Mainly because I took a dislike to him after that first interview though.
Re: Spotty's Seriously Sub-standard Second Rate Transfer Thr
He does have that 'old lag' look. Maybe that was it.

I take it that you don't know about him putting yet another header two yards wide from a position four yards on on goal? Aye. Shite!Bijou Bob wrote:Aye, shite that Madine.

For Moxey's goal, he actually missed the ball from 7 yards outBruce Rioja wrote:I take it that you don't know about him putting yet another header two yards wide from a position four yards on on goal? Aye. Shite!Bijou Bob wrote:Aye, shite that Madine.
I think he's alright though in fairness, but on minute he can look good, the next - He looks like he's won a raffle to play for a football team for a day

If he fluffs one and bags one in every game from here to May, it'll do me
or maybe we'll find out Saturday in his absence that things could be worse

Oh I absolutely agree, but seeing him fluff at least a couple a game whilst only scoring once every fifth game doesn't inspire me to believe that that's even remotely likely to happen.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:If he fluffs one and bags one in every game from here to May, it'll do me
