Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window

I think there's going to be an element of risk in the No1. He seems to want someone young and with potential and brought up playing out. Don't think you're going to get a Baxter type to come and be number 2.

Guess so - He's got a better pedigree - Think Coleman maybe for the B Team?

Coleman back up keeper - he's nearly 28 - he ain't signing for the B team. 83 league appearances thus far.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 12:31 pmGuess so - He's got a better pedigree - Think Coleman maybe for the B Team?

35 months since I first listed him as a possible...!BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:23 pmColeman back up keeper - he's nearly 28 - he ain't signing for the B team. 83 league appearances thus far.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 12:31 pmGuess so - He's got a better pedigree - Think Coleman maybe for the B Team?

The bigger question for me is how good or not is Baxter? He's 24 - reasonable amount of games under his belt but clearly no Trafford...

Coleman and Baxter?
At least we won't be short on condiments next season. Will they cut the mustard?

Talk that Andersen is leaving Barnsley for Luton. With Duff also likely off.
Andersen is for me the best defender in league one (or was last season) and that's a big, big blow for Barnsley. He was outstanding in our two legs against them.

Well, I imagine they'll be able to get some decent coin from a newly minted Premier League team - They'll be able to strengthen numerous areas on the back of it and could inflate some of our possible targets' priceBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:59 pmTalk that Andersen is leaving Barnsley for Luton. Baxter was similarly well-regarded when he was Traf's age and, like Traf, believed he was going to the top of the game (so did Chelsea). Since then he's had half a dozen injuries (I think 4 have required surgery - hand, two shoulder and ankle) that have scuppered him totally.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 1:58 pmThe bigger question for me is how good or not is Baxter? He can't stay fit. So hopefully Coleman will prove himself still worthy of League One.
We're basically signing the Trafford and Savin of several years ago, if they rock up.

When I saw he was released, I presumed we'd be in for him too but he's gone to Lincoln. https://www.weareimps.com/news/2023/jun ... -the-imps/Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 10:56 am24, on a free, has played for Hull the last two seasons and Accy (hoo!) before that.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 7:56 amAs some of you have no doubt also seen this morning, our good friend Alan Nixon reports that we’ve hit snags in our pursuits of keepers Savin and Beadle, and have now turned our attention to Chelsea’s Nathan Baxter.
Not a name that I think has been mentioned on here previously, but a good age and obviously has a good pedigree.
Left Hull because he picked up a knock and they borrowed Toon's Darlow instead. It should be noted that Champions League team Maccabi Haifa are after Baxter as well...
Speaking of Accy loanees, is it interesting that we haven't gone back in for Lukas Jensen, released by Burnley? (Or maybe we have, or we are... very quiet bar Nicko...)
Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window
Baxter sounds like he might be a high-risk, high-reward type signing then. Doesn't sound like we'd be getting anywhere near him if he had a better injury record, but then he's not going to be of much use if he's constantly unavailable. I guess these are the rolls of the dice you have to make when you're operating on a limited budget...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 2:33 pmBaxter was similarly well-regarded when he was Traf's age and, like Traf, believed he was going to the top of the game (so did Chelsea). Good spot. Hopefully we're making the right choice. You have to hope that we'd have been a better bet than Lincoln.HMX wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:28 pmWhen I saw he was released, I presumed we'd be in for him too but he's gone to Lincoln. https://www.weareimps.com/news/2023/jun ... -the-imps/Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 10:56 am(...)is it interesting that we haven't gone back in for Lukas Jensen, released by Burnley? I never took note of how he was with the ball at his feet while he was at Accy. Maybe that was a concern – or Evatt had favoured targets.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:39 pmGood spot. Hopefully we're making the right choice. Not sure we'd get much 'data' from that spell...
We presumably can't have thought he was a total dud, given we borrowed him – but then that was in Div 4, and a reaction to Crellin. Things move on. I bear him no ill will.

We did a good job keeping Lee patched together for 2 years... However, we could manage his minutes. Can't be rotating your keeper out every Tuesday!The_Gun wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:35 pmBaxter sounds like he might be a high-risk, high-reward type signing then. One for the Sports Science / Medical department - Would imagine anything concerning would show up during his medical

As Evatt likes to say, "Exactly that."The_Gun wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:35 pmBaxter sounds like he might be a high-risk, high-reward type signing then.
