neil webb ?
Differnt level of drop, but Michael Owen is a possible example.

Certainly Robbie Fowler ... from a greater height, to a sligtly higher level of failure.

Going back a bit, but Gary Birtles & Steve Daley .... Daley joined Citeh from Wolves for £1m & about 6 years later was playing for Rhyl.

I wonder in some cases whether the money takes away the bite. A bit like the idea of a hungry boxer. But if so why has he put himself through the ignomony of trawling through most clubs in the bottom division ? He probably had enough cash to own his home & settle to a good, if unspectacular life. 11 clubs since leaving us ? That's some crash.

Amazingly, still only just turned 31 in December.

Des Walker had a long term injury I recall... after which, his pace was shot. Same goes for (mentioned elsewhere) Neil Webb. He did his achilles in playing for England if I remember correctly and never quite recovered.

I don't remember Rickett's having a terrible injury after he left us. It just seemed like his lust for the game just left his head. Very odd indeed.

He was on his way down when he was with us, hence the transfer fee dropping by millions in the space of 12 months. I remember Nolan at the time having a bit of a dip in form, and reading an article saying Big Sam had been to see his old man to tell him to sort his head (his dad being a non-league player or something? Told him not everyone gets the opportunity? sure I'm not making it up).

Also used to work with a girl who used to work for Boro on match days, she says he acted a bit of a charlie large big potatoes, and was giving it all that with his Wanderers mates (I'm assuming Nolan) when they were up at the Riverside, which apparently didn't go down too well.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Aye as far as I'm aware. Just an unhealthy inclination toward the buffet table.

Agreed. Said it before, biggest waste of talent I've seen at Bolton. Had the all-round game to be a decent Premierleague striker for most of his career.

Shame the ego and burger love got in the way.

Best finisher I've seen in a Bolton shirt. Such a shame he wasted what talent he had.

Ha, just re-read the thread, essentially said the same thing three times.
