The Munich match thread

Post by CrazyHorse » Wed Nov 07, 2007 4:00 pm

35 separate threads on Munich covering everything bar the actual game! :D

Is Anelka going to be fit for this game? I seem to recall someone saying his expected return would be the 8th????

So definitely no ANELKA, DIOUF, J O BRIEN, HUNT or MEITE.

Hmmmmm me sees Besiktas at Anfield being replicated by us on Thursday!

Diouf's a blow - I thought it was curtains when I saw the replay of his landing at West Ham, but, given that he made it to the end of the game, I was hopeful.

In all seriousness I think we'll lose 2-0 or 3-0!

God we're going to get thumped. Anelka is the most depressing, but no Diouffy either!? And not only no Hunt or OB for right-back but no Meite either!? *groan* Right lads, get your ironic songs and wise-cracks ready.
"Could you sco-ore a-a goal for us?"
Oh well, the arena should be pretty :-D

Prediction: 4-0

Team?

Al Habsi

McCann (RB)
Samuel/Cid (LB)
AOB (CB)
Michalik (CB)

Guthrie (M)
Nolan (M)
Speed/Andranik (M)

Stelios (F)

Surely we're not desperate enough to go with McCann at rightback - Sinclair?

Oh gawd  He may as well give JLloyd a go at RB I guess and have Cid on the left... I despair
Speed for the first 60-odd minutes maybe then save his poor old legs and bring somebody on who might create somethign to turn around the inevitable deficit (Andranik?) Nolan in front of him I guess (groan) and Guthrie has been a good spark recently. Amd yes, I guess that leaves us with Braaten or Alonso as a third of those options up front. Alonso to start with Braaten as the option for me.

I'd rather have McCann at right back than Sinclair. Sinclair is young small, and can't defend. He could be absolutely destroyed by Bayern and that could a) not help the team and b) seriously damage a young players confidence.

Pitting him against Ribery / Scweinsteiger on his full debut could be catastrophic for him

my word, it's a long way to go to see us get spanked. i can see it being very similar to the citeh game to be honest, very determined, very organised but no effort to get it near that net at all

best be getting :pissed: then methinks

Jussi; Samuel, Michalik, O'Brien, Gardner; McCann, Speed, Nolan, Guthrie; Stelios, Davies.

That team or swap Samuel/Gardner for Alonso and see McCann go full-back.

he did pretty well against Chelsea last season, infact, he sorted Drogba right out.

Give him a go, better still, its a game we don't expect to win, we don't have to win. lets giove a bit youth a go, youthful exuberence, no fear and all that.

Yep, injuries have pretty much eroded our chances of getting anything out of this so it's time to blood some new players. I still feel we don't know what moves we'll have to make in the January window so it's time to test out some fringe players. Give Nolan a chance to continue his good form.

---------------- Ali ------------------
Sinclair - Andy O'B - Michalik - Cid
-------------- McCann ---------------
------- Nolan ------- Adranik -------
-- Stelios --- Davies --- Braaten ---

Bench: Everyone else.

My team would be:

Jussi

Samuel
AOB
Michalik
Cid

McCann
Speed
Nolan

Guthrie
Davies
Stelios

Subs: AAH, Sinclair, Gardner, Alonso, Andranik, Braaten, Helguson

I think that is not much worse than the team that started at WHU - in fact put Gardner in for Cid and it would be better.
