yay! go ladies!

WHITEHAVEN suffered heartbreak when a goal two minutes from time denied them a deserved point against Bolton.

Whitehaven started the game brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead on 20 minutes when a Natalie Broad effort from 25 yards cannoned back off the crossbar with the keeper beaten.

Bolton began to get a foothold in the game and forced Whitehaven keeper Sarah Scott, who was player-of-the-match, to make a couple of smart saves.

However, Whitehaven were rewarded on 33 minutes when they took the lead. Yula McCourt and Kirsty Robson combined in midfield to win the ball and when it broke to Lauren Fryer 30 yards out, and her first-time shot gave the keeper absolutely no chance.

Whitehaven continued to press and just when it looked like they would take a lead into the break, a defensive mistake presented Bolton with the simplest of equalisers.

The second half began with Bolton on top, but wave after wave of attacks were thwarted by a solid rearguard action by the Whitehaven defence and some inspired goalkeeping by Scott.

As the game entered its final minutes, Whitehaven sensed they could pinch all three points, and came close when a Fiona Buglass shapshot hit the bar

The killer Bolton goal came in the dying minutes when Whitehaven pushed forward for the winner and were caught on the counter-attack.
