Leeds United have signed Andy O'Brien from Bolton on a one-month loan deal.

The 31-year-old centre-back was at Leeds as a schoolboy and returns to West Yorkshire having left Bradford City in 2001 after a five-year spell.

O'Brien told the club's website: "Football's a cut-throat business. To get an opportunity to play at such a big club is something you have to take.

"From my perspective, I'm here for a month, and I want to do well and get a place in the team."

O'Brien, who played 26 times for the Republic of Ireland before retiring from international football in 2008, joined Bolton from Portsmouth in 2007, and has made 68 league starts for the Trotters. However he has only featured in two Premier League and one League Cup match this season.

"I got a phone call from Owen Coyle and he said would I be interested. I said 'yes' and now I'm here," explained the Harrogate-born player.

"I've not played as much football as I would have liked. I am grateful for the opportunity, both to Leeds for wanting me and to Bolton for allowing me to come here.

"I'd like to think it's a win-win situation for Leeds as well because I am here to be working hard for a shirt."
68 League starts for the Trotters????
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"

I wish him no malice, hope he does well there, think that we could do with replacing him in the long run.

I should cocoa. One injury & a sending off and we are on our bare bones.

Mind you, the 25 man squad isn't going to help any club in this regard.

I suppose the management know their squad & feel he can be released, but it does make usnthin on the ground

The last time that management had a choice to make, they chose AOB over Ricketts

I've stopped trying to work it out, too

Leeds seem to be a bit rich in the loaning market

In his first season with us, AOB was pretty top notch and surprised most people, and kept us stable at the back.

In his 2nd season he was pretty unreliable, and made loads of mistakes, so finds himself just as a squad player. We could do without him, but would still need to replace him in the next window.

Hope he has a release clause from the loan if we have injuries.
... of course I may just be talking bo11ocks

It's only a month loan - we'll be fine with Ricketts (I hope).
