From today's Bolton News:
Kevin Davies' brother-in-law fights for life
10:22am Saturday 1st January 2011
BOLTON Wanderers striker Kevin Davies was last night waiting to hear whether his brother-in-law will survive a lethal virus.
The Premier League star was at his Bolton home yesterday caring for the three young children of Joel Walmsley, who is fighting for his life in hospital.
Mr Walmsley, aged 32, was struck down with the virus GAS Group A streptococcus, as well as pneumonia and septicaemia on Christmas Day.
He was rushed to Kingston Hospital, London, on Boxing Day. Mr Walmsley has been in a coma ever since.
On Monday, Mr Davies and his wife Emma were told Mr Walmsley — who is the partner of Mrs Davies’ sister Abi Shield — would not make it through the night.
He received emergency surgery on Thursday night but doctors were unable to establish the source of the toxic virus. Swine flu has been ruled out.
Mrs Davies said last night: “It’s terrible, but we have had so many messages of support and people have been amazing.
“Amir Khan has even text my sister to say he his thinking about them.”

Devastating news for anyone. Can only hope the guy makes it. KD's head will be all over the place right now. A prayer from me for him.
