who should replace elmander?

since it seems inevitable he is leaving who would you like to replace him and who do you think realistically we will sign

I think its all usually guess work at this point and it'll probably end up being some foreign player none of us have heard of! Out of the current premier league crop i'd hope for someone like pavlyuchenko, sturridge, rodallega, welbeck, agbonlahor or sergio aguero fom la liga ( :) ) Also i imagine we may have a look at a few championship players such as becchio, nugent and bothroyd. I dont know or care how likely any of these players are but they seem the sort the papers go and link us with!

If we could convince Pavlyuchenko to come to the 'Bok I'd be well chuffed. how about someone like Gyan should Mackems go down or even Demba Ba from Hoffenheim who's been the only silver lining for Spammers
Pfffft.

I think we're effectively looking for a front pairing you know. Davo isn't of an age to build a team around any more, and if Mandy leaves we've got to think how best to score goals.

Our strengths remain set pieces and crosses. We're badly missing someone who can get behind a defence - Stoke yesterday pretty much defended on the halfway line knowing we'd have no chance of outpacing them.

So for me, someone handy with a forehead, and someone with a clean pair of heels.

id still be pleased if we kept elmander though, given his performances under owen coyle..actually even under megson he was always hard working if not frustrated and really finding his feet in english football and alongside kevin davies. from september - december he was one of the key reasons we were in the top 6 or whatever and although he has been since been asked to play on the wing/as a midfielder he has done so without grumbling and has been competant in each! after watching the team yesterday, and in particular petrov, it emphasises how much we need our attacking players to defend sometimes and 'get stuck in' which is something elmander is always willing and able to do! he's never going to be a one man wonder but i'd always be happy to have him as part of a bolton XI

At least those that were saying Klasnic should start more games have finally seen how poor he is in open play. Elmo gets a lot of undeserved flack he's been the best striker on our books this season.

That just shows how bloody dreadful Klasnic is, could never understand why so many were keen to get him back!

He's saved our arses quite a few times with late goals, he's just not a starter and the manager should've known better.

Which is a huge reason why I think Owen decided to pick him, maybe his emotions out weighed the tactical aspect in his selection. By the way how long is Klasnic contracted with us?? I still think he has a huge part to play for the club, although let's stick it to the second half :).

It was funny that at 3-0 down and when all hope seemed lost me and another of other fans were wishing we could bring Klasnic on (or back on? you get my drift!) instead of Rodrigo. Don't get me wrong I think Rodrgio is class but would have preferred to see him start and Klasnic as the impact sub.

Hehe thats why I said on our books :). Its a desperate situation with Sturridge and most likely Elmander leaving at the end of the season. But my general point is he gets way too much flack for what he has contributed this term. He has clearly been a better all round player than Davo this season, 12 goals from open play with numerous assists while playing out of position for the last three months makes him a key player but gets treated like hes a fecking carthorse. It all depends on who we replace him with but it'll be a desperate loss and a lot of fans are underestimating that.

Hypothetically if we had to choose to keep one out of Davo or Elmander on playing ability alone I'd rather have Elmander.

Harsh to target Elmander as a striker when he's playing anywhere but.

With Sturridge going and our top scorer Elmander likely to go, thats a huge job in the summer to replace them.

Especially when we'll be left with an ageing and increasingly ineffective and very definitely slow Kevin Davies and a bloke who's turned into a poor signing in Klasnic who can manage about 15 minutes every few weeks, but certainly ain't a starter.

Hey its ok, there's always loadsa strikers with goals and pace in them knocking around in our price bracket! FFS.

And the list of players someone has put up including Pavlychenko and Aguero is just laughable!

Our best hope might be to persuade Chelsea to let us have Sturridge for another season but I suspect thats very unlikely indeed.

I believe Danny Ward will be in the squad next year. I also think if Sturridge doesn't come back then the reputation Coyle's building as an improver of young talent should see us attracting someone of his ilk to us.

Be reet.
