End of season report

Post by Lofthouse Lower » Sun May 08, 2011 12:18 am

Fill this in. Now. 8)

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden, by a million thousand miles
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge - the difference between a top ten finish and a relegation battle
Worst player: Johan Elmander / Gretar Steinsson
Worst Signing: Martin Petrov, for sheer disappointment
Favourite Game: 2-1 win over Arsenal, the week after Stoke at Wembley, reminding us all of what a ride it is to support BWFC
Favourite Goal: Mark Davies vs Blackpool. Tiki Taka wonderment
Best Moment: Qualifying for the FA Cup Semi Final
Worst Moment: 4.15pm on 17th April
Pre-season expectation: Improvement on last year's improvement
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer: Elmander to leave, and an overhaul of the squad, and Stu Holdz to return from injury
What do you think will happen: Cahill to leave for daft money, which is fine by me

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden, I actually thought he was the weak link at start of this season - ended up being absolutely indespensible to us

Best signing: Daniel Sturridge - made us look dangerous

Worst player: Fabrice Muamba. Im sorry, I just dont see much progression from the previous season. Passing, shooting - woeful.

Worst Signing: Martin Petrov - didnt quite do enough for me (despite providing two of my most memorable moments of the season)

Favourite Games: 4-2 v Spurs, 5-1 v Newcastle, 2-3 v Wolves, 2-3 v Birmingham, 2-2 v United.

Favourite Goal: For skill, Elmander v Wolves. For the sheer moment of joy - Petrov v United.

Best Moment: That header by LCY at Birmingham in FA Cup Quarter Final. Wild scenes.

Worst Moment: Wembley. Ill still be saying that in a decade's time.

Pre-season expectation: mid-table, hoped for a cup run - got both.

Season Rating (/10): 8

What would you like to see happen this summer: Sign and build a potent strike force. Reinforce the defence. Reform the midfield. Recall Al-Habsi.

What do you think will happen: Start next season minus Cahill, Elmander, Petrov & others. Opening game of season sees us still under strength and living in hope before transfer window closes. Results in another topsy turvy season, some great results, some good football - but ultimately falling short of glory. Awaay form continues to be a worry.

Player of the Year: Holden with notable mentions to Cahill and sturridge,

Best signing: Daniel Sturridge

Worst player: super kev hes looking like he needs to be replaced too much

Worst Signing: Rodrigo never fulfilled my hopes for him

Favourite Game: bwfc 5 - 1 newcastle

Favourite Goal: The johan vs wolves

Best Moment: honestly the celebration where robo goes flying after holden scored vs bburn maybye

Worst Moment: i dont need to say

Pre-season expectation: Improvement on last year's improvement

Season Rating: (/10): 8-1/2

What would you like to see happen this summer: cahill to stay and us find 20 mil for transfers and sign guardado -
bothroyd and raul

What do you think will happen: Cahill to leave for less than we all expect elmander to sign again or leave for somewhere stupid, and for us to sign 4-5 unknowns and only 1 of them be a player that was worth signing (i actually really hope we resign elmander)

if you dont know who i mean

Guardado - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9s_Guardado" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Raul - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra%C3%BAl_Gonz%C3%A1lez" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
bothroyd - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Bothroyd" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but id settle for

these 3 instead

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden. Got to be. Despite missing a quarter or more. Robinson (overall) in a very close second.
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge. Again, the only realistic option.
Worst player: Petrov. But I can't say we've really had one stand out shithead.
Worst Signing: Petrov again. Just hasn't lived up to expectations.
Favourite Game: Ooh. Home vs Blackpool, Blackburn, Spurs, Newcastle, or Arsenal
Favourite Goal: Stuart Holden vs Blackburn. Oh, you just equalised, did you? 'Ave that!
Best Moment: Chung Yong Lee vs Birmingham. Que, Sera Sera.
Worst Moment: The entire day and week after 3pm, April 17th.
Pre-season expectation: General improvement, nicking a top ten after a season spent neither fighting relegation nor anything else.
Season Rating (/10): 8.5
What would you like to see happen this summer: Signing numerous players to push us onto Europe.
What do you think will happen: Signing some players, which might just about scrape us into Europe.

Player of the Year: like everyone else Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge - not many to choose from
Worst player: Jussi for me, has cost us quite a lot of points this year
Worst Signing: Martin Petrov, Stoke's third goal sums him up
Favourite Game: 2-1 against Blackburn, finally beating Blackburn/Big Sam
Favourite Goal: Klasnic against Stoke
Best Moment: walking down Wembley Way about to watch my team
Worst Moment: about an hour after that
Pre-season expectation: around 12th
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer: signing a goal scorer to replace Johan
What do you think will happen: no money will be given to Coyle

Fill this in. Now.

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden, Clearly the lynchpin that makes this team click.

Best signing: Daniel Sturridge - no real competition for this in regards to this season.

Worst player: Muamba. He has good games, but seems to be going backwards and some games just terrible. Don't think he is suitable for the system Coyle wants but likely do well elsewhere.

Worst Signing: Martin Petrov. Think my expectations were too high.

Favourite Game: Spurs game followed by Arsenal.

Favourite Goal: Elmanders vs the Wolves.

Best Moment: Winning goal against Birmingham in FA quarter final

Worst Moment: Seeing Holden get injured against Man U. Knew at that point the rest of the season was downhill

Pre-season expectation: mid table
Season Rating (/10): 8
What would you like to see happen this summer: Elmander to stay, Muamba to leave, get Holden and Davies healthy, replace Cahill, get a creative and defensive midfielder and another striker. Either new or from the reserves.
What do you think will happen: Petrov gone, Jussi gone, Muamba gone, Sturridge gone, Blake gone, Cahill gone (big money). In? who knows

Player of the Year: Cahill
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Robinson
Worst Signing: Petrov
Favourite Game: Newcastle (home)
Favourite Goal: Holden V Blackburn
Best Moment: Holden v Blackburn
Worst Moment: Drive home from Wembley
Pre-season expectation: Better football
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer:Coyle to shape the team he wants by a) the "right" sort becoming available and/or b) funds becoming available through injection or sale of Cahill. Oh and Robinson/Elmander to go.
What do you think will happen: haven't a clue! even Cahill going isn't a gimme.

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Steinsson/Petrov
Worst Signing: Alonso
Favourite Game: Stuffing Newcastle with help from Fat Kev
Favourite Goal: Sturridge v West Ham
Best Moment: Making Man U look pretty fooking ordinary at our place
Worst Moment: It might just be that FA Cup semi
Pre-season expectation: Didn't have any really
Season Rating (/10): 6.89675834
What would you like to see happen this summer: More players, preferably good ones
What do you think will happen: Cahill and Elmander to leave and not enough players come in

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Martin Petrov
Worst Signing: Marcos Alonso
Favourite Game: Spurs 4-2. Most entertaining game for a long time and i got back the buzz of going to the match!
Favourite Goal: Holden v Blackburn
Best Moment: The win at Birmingham.
Worst Moment: Stoke... infact thats my worst Bolton game ever.
Pre-season expectation: Mid table
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer: A new defender to replace Cahill, a new centre midfielder and a couple of new strikers.

Player of the Year: A 1-2-3 of Holden, Knight, and Cahill.
Best signing: Sturridge.
Worst player: Taylor, Petrov, and Jaaskelainen.
Worst Signing: Petrov. Really should've been a brilliant signing.
Favourite Game: Bolton 2-2 Blackpool, Bolton 4-2 Tottenham, Wolves 2-3 Bolton, Bolton 5-1 Newcastle.
Favourite Goal: Davies (Blackpool), Elmander (Wolves), Holden (Blackburn), Lee (Birmingham).
Best Moment: Qualifying for the semi...
Worst Moment: ... Umm...
Pre-season expectation: Hope rather than expectation, but a Coyle miracle.
Season Rating (/10): 7. Looked like being 9 or 10 for a while.
What would you like to see happen this summer: Al-Habsi to come back as first choice. Much as I love Jussi. Some shiny new full-backs, a left-winger, and Sturridge on loan for next season would be great.
What do you think will happen: Al-Habsi to be sold, Cahill to be sold, Sturridge to return to Chelsea. I fear reinvestment will be minimal.

It's not the end of the season yet.

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Robinson
Worst Signing: Petrov
Favourite Game: 2-2 Vs the Rags at home. Should have won it.
Favourite Goal: Elmander v Wolves
Best Moment: CYL Scoring V Brum
Worst Moment: Cup Semi
Pre-season expectation: This year's or next? This year's pre season finish about 12th, play some better football.
Season Rating (/10): 7.5
What would you like to see happen this summer: New central MFers. Both to cover Moo and Holden (who seems to get injured a lot)
What do you think will happen: Cahill to leave, clear out of benchers to be replaced by other benchers about the same standard.

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Muamba or Zat Knight (sorry Bruce you were right)
Worst Signing: Petrov or Alonso
Favourite Game: 3-2 away at Brum in FA Cup.
Favourite Goal: Elmander v Wolves
Best Moment: Cohen's header against Arsenal!
Worst Moment: Huth shinning that goal in at Wembley and the realisation that our over paid over pampered pricks hadn't bothered to turn up!
Pre-season expectation: Mid table with a cup run seemed to be most peoples expectations.
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer: A fooking lot.
What do you think will happen: Several players our several players in. Hopefully we won't waste most of our money on folk deemed not good enough to get in the side again!

Player of the Year: Holden,
Best signing: Sturridge.
Worst player(s): Taylor, Knight, and Jaaskelainen.
Worst Signing: Alonso
Favourite Game: Bolton 5-1 Newcastle.
Favourite Goal: Holden V Blackburn
Best Moment: Holden V Blackburn
Worst Moment: Wembley
Pre-season expectation: To eventually see this 'better' football that OC keeps promising, stop the hoof ball, K Davies to admit that his best days are behind him & that he's happy to warm the bench - and eventually the removal of 'all' deadwood
Season Rating (/10): 7.
What would you like to see happen this summer: Taylor, Knight & Muamba to leave the club, sign 4 quality players who are comfortable on the ball and can actually pass (to a white shirt..) - the 4 players to be 1 x creative midfielder to play alongside Holden, 1 x quality CB to replace Cahill & partner Wheater, 2 x new FB's - can't see it happening though
What do you think will happen: No quality players brought in, funds available will be minimal, current deadwood to be replaced by several new players not much better than the ones we get rid of, next seasons football to be no different...OC's 'work in progess' excuse to last another 12 months....would love to be proved wrong though !

Favourite Goal: Elmander at Wolves
Best Moment: Qualifying for the FA Cup Semi Final
Worst Moment: Zat Knight getting fit
Pre-season expectation: 10-14
Season Rating (/10): 7
What would you like to see happen this summer: Elmander to stay to play with Sturridge and Davies to return to Twatter
What do you think will happen: Recruitment of Wade Elliot, Jay Rodrigues and Brian Jensen and a relegation battle supreme

Player of the Year: Paul Robinson, closely followed by Holden. I love his passion.
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge - no question
Worst player: Gretar Steinsson
Worst Signing: Martin Petrov, thought he was the signing of the window, sadly disappointed
Favourite Game: Newcastle- 5-1, love it!
Favourite Goal: Elmander vs Wolves - wow
Best Moment: That CYL header to send us to wembley
Worst Moment: The moment it sunk in on the long, sad, coach ride home after the semi
Pre-season expectation: Not to be in a relegation battle
Season Rating (/10): 8
What would you like to see happen this summer: Petrov to be tossed out, Cahill for some nice cash, Sturridge to move here permenantly and some new depth to the squad
What do you think will happen: Cahill to be sold for less than anticipated, Petrov to stay, Sturridge to go back to chelsea and a new loanee brought in

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden/Daniel Sturridge
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge/Stuart Holden
Worst player: Martin Petrov
Worst Signing: Rodrigo, promised so much, has flashes of brilliance, just not enough for me
Favourite Game: Either the 4-2 against Spuds or the 5-1 to Newcastle
Favourite Goal: Petrov vs Blackpool/Davies vs Blackpool/Blake vs Brum or Chungy against Brum
Best Moment: Holden's winner against Dingles just for BSA's face or FA Cup win at Brum
Worst Moment: Train journey home from Wembley
Pre-season expectation: Continued improvement
Season Rating (/10): 9, everything bar the Wembley no show was an improvement on HWSNBN
What would you like to see happen this summer: Coyle to receive some proper backing to overhaul the squad. Couple of surprising signings that work out to be awesome
What do you think will happen: Market value for Cahill (£20m - £25m) decent CB signed to show Knight the way. Ball winning midfielder to arrive to help out Holden
Pfffft.

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Worst regular? Steinsson.
Worst Signing: Petrov.
Favourite Game: Birmingham cup QF.
Favourite Goal: Chung-Yong's winner in the above mentioned game.
Best Moment: As above again.
Worst Moment: Wembley from 4pm onwards.
Pre-season expectation: Steer clear of relegation battle.
Season Rating (/10): 8, but i do things could have gone seriously south if Carlos Vela's agent hadn't inadvertently made us turn toward sturridge.
What would you like to see happen this summer: Cahill & Elmander to stay, Sturridge to sign on and Holden to fully recover from injury. Realistically though I hope we just fill whatever gaps need filling depending on who we lose. Oh, and Mark Davies to lay off the pop & crisps.
What do you think will happen: Cahill to go for less than people expect, Elmander to go abroad. Coyle to sign a few players from the Championship and relegated Prem clubs (Pratley, Williams etc).

Player of the Year: Stuart Holden
Best signing: Daniel Sturridge
Worst player: Hard to pick one out, but Marcos Alonso looks to be taking the unwanted mantle
Worst Signing: Difficult choice but probably Martin Petrov due to the wages and return on investment, he's got time to come good thankfully
Favourite Game: 5-1 vs. Newcastle
Favourite Goal: Elmander's quick feet finish vs. Wolves
Best Moment: The performance against WHU, so close to a hatrick after a decade of no hatricks
Worst Moment: The Stoke capitulation at Wembley
Pre-season expectation: Positivity and a push for a top 10 finish. Delivered on both counts.
Season Rating (/10): 8
What would you like to see happen this summer: Elmanders fate to be decided finally, Sturridge to return, Cahill to stay, Some more players to come in
What do you think will happen: Cahill stays despite interest from other parties and rumours of his impending departure to continue, Sturridge returns to Chelsea to press for a place in the squad, We'll sign another youngster from a top club, Strikers to be signed near the end of the transfer window and not be bedded in for the start of hte season.
