Chilean starlet Stefano Magnasco has confirmed that he is travelling to England to undergo a trial with Bolton Wanderers.
The 18-year-old made his debut for his club Universidad Catolica earlier this year, but he has been spotted by Bolton scouts.
Now Catolica have agreed to let Magnasco travel to England after he signed his first contract with the club ensuring they would be due a good fee if he does enough to earn a move.
Magnasco, who can play anywhere down the right side, had also been linked with other English clubs including Chelsea, but he is looking forward to trying his luck with Bolton.
"I have to seize this chance, and if I am not ready they will tell me," he told Chilean radio Bio Bio.
"It never hurts to take advantage of this situation."
Some reports claim that Magnasco would be able to move for minimal compensation, but he confirmed that he had actually signed a contract with Catolica before leaving for England.
"Everything is done with the club, I signed a contract with the club to keep everybody happy, and everybody is happy," he said.
"The idea was to get on well with them and then hopefully everything will work out."
Magnasco is due to arrive in England on Sunday and will begin training with Bolton on Monday.

LL will know all about him.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Didn't realise we had scouts in Chile!
Either that or the kid has a convincing agent who wants to move him quickly to England for a few quid...
Just being cynical..

Re: Wanderers Take Chilean Starlet on Trial
Seen this on another forum
Seen quite a bit of Catolica but he was missing in most of those games I'm afraid.
Catolica are the best team in Chile at the moment and play pretty good football. He's only started to be a regular in this Clausura season I think, recall him briefly and is better going forward than in defence. Pacey but very green, a move to the Prem could ruin him, can see Bolton signing him then loaning him out to a lower level club.
He has the nickname of the 'Chilean Cafu' already over here my mate tells me.
Sorry can't tell you more but the UC fans seem to rate him highly judging by their message board and are a bit worried they are getting screwed in the deal. I think they feel he could be worth a lot more in a couple of years.
Summary - Lots of talent and potential but only has started playing week in, week out in Chile and move to England probably too soon for him.
