Skysports.com understands Stoke are weighing up a move for Bolton defender Paul Robinson in the January transfer window.

The experienced left-back is out of contract at the end of the season and it is believed Bolton are willing to let him move on in January.

The no-nonsense defender has established himself as a key member of the Bolton side since arriving in the summer of 2009, but The Trotters are ready to cash-in in January rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer.

This news has alerted a host of clubs to Robinson's availability when the transfer window opens next month, with the full-back a seasoned Premier League campaigner having made over 500 appearances in his career with Watford, West Brom and Bolton.

Stoke are thought to be tracking Robinson as Tony Pulis looks to add to his left-back options.

Left-back has been a problematic position for Stoke this season and tough-tackling Robinson could help fill the void.
Here's the car, Robbo, jump in quick.

Stoke would take him and make him look like a world beater. Good signing if you want your defenders to stay put and shout a lot.

£1m would be a brilliant turn around on a player that we signed for £1m. We won't get that. I'd be surprised if we get £500k for him. Good business depends on who we get instead of him after all a transfer fee and a worst defender doesnt improve the squad.

It'd be great to get some coinsmoneygold for Robinson, but yet again - we have a small squad - and we need to bring players in, not sell everyone and hope that we get someone at a later date.

In my opinion, of course.

That lad at Barnsley who just bagged a hat trick against Leeds could do a job for us...

Football 365 have us in for Bobby Zamora? I'm really not sure how I feel about that, apart from shouting the bleedin obvious to Coyle - "Sort us out at the back first FFS"

Good player but probably bollocks would rather have Andy Johnson who is suppose to be available on the cheap

but your right that defence needs sorting first

Anyone that can hold the ball up for more than 5 seconds would be great.

Can't see Owen wanting to come here. He'd rather play 3 times a season for a big club than 30 times for a team like us...

Great idea to get some forwards in. If only we were banging in 4 every game, we'd have had a lot more points this season.
