Target for THE NEXT 6 games

Post by wanderers_on_tour » Sun Oct 02, 2011 9:16 pm

Wigan (Away)
Sunderland (Home)
Swansea (Away)
Stoke (Home)
West Brom (Away)
Everton (Home)

So with that mess out the way, us wanderers can now look forward to watching a few good games of football rather than those last 4 or 5 public executions. Although each game is 'winnable' on paper I think we'll struggle for a draw away at Wigan (with a combination of lack of confidence/poor away form costing us all 3) but would hope for us to win 2 of the 3 home ties, and AT LEAST 1 of Swansea/West Brom Away.

so.....
Opinions???

Excellent post!

Five 1-0 victories would suit me down to the ground...

And a total 10-0 stuffing of feckin, feckin Everton...

so that's, errrmmm - 18 points...

10 would delight me... and is achievable...

Honestly, can see 5 points from those. 3 from Sunderland and a point each from Stoke and Everton.

To get back to 1 PPG which is minimum to have a chance of staying up, we need 10! That's the bare minimum requirement.

If we cant beat Wigan and Sunderlans writing is on the wall, cos Swansea and Stoke will be tough as will West Brom and Everton. Next two are must wins. No doubt about it!

Sunderland, Wigan. We have shit hot records in those fixtures!!
Ideally 4 points, happy with 3. Any less and its panic stations.
I think we'll lose at Wigan and pull something out of the bag v Sunderland...play badly and get a 1-0 off a lucky penalty or something, with them missing a hatfull. If there is one thing we are missing its a bit of luck.

Swansea, Stoke
Depends on the first two I think. If we pick up a win we'll grow in confidence through more 'winnable games'. Can see the Stoke game being psychological and I would back our lot to lose mindgames every time to be honest. I think Stoke are in europe on the Thursday so hopefully that will work in our favour. I can see 6 points and I can see 0 at the moment. I just hope we can claw some respectability from the Stoke match, they will be f u cking crowing and its up to our lot to shut them up,,,should not need any motivation.

West Brom, usually a draw, I'll be happy with that.
Everton, usually a defeat, so point or better please.

In summary I can see a range of 2 - 15 points from these...all depending on our mental state! Season defining this though.

I didn't spend time/effort/money going this weekend so I'm feeling much better about life than a lot of y'all.

Here's my optimistic forecast...

Wigan (Away) Win
Sunderland (Home) Win
Swansea (Away) Draw
Stoke (Home) Draw
West Brom (Away) Win
Everton (Home) Draw

12 points

TBH we may not draw any of these but I can see us getting 4 W's. Starting with 3 points at the pie-o-seum.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Would mean that we'd have 7 points from 13 games. And need a PPG of 1.3 over the rest of the games to achieve 40 points and have a chance of safety. And bear in mind we'd still have to play Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and City again. And we all know from everyone on here that those games are 0 points. So in effect we'd have 20 games left to get 33 points from.

In other words we'd already be as good as relegated.

I think 40 points has only been needed on a few occasions. So maybe not relegated.

We don't have a good record at the DW - so couldn't legitimately say we'll win, especially the way we're defending.

Sunderland win more at the Bok than we do, but could win this one possibly.

Swansea haven't lost at home yet, but we could grab a draw.

Stoke will just run at Robinson all fecking day.

We've not won at the Hawthorns in 5 goes.

Everton don't have the best record at the Bok, so maybe...

If we do only manage the results you have suggested, we'll also have a new manager I suspect!

Wigan (Away) Draw
Sunderland (Home) Win
Swansea (Away) Lose
Stoke (Home) Win
West Brom (Away) Win
Everton (Home) Draw

11 points. Gone for a win against Stoke because they are playing away to Tel-Aviv on the Thursday and seem to struggle after European games.
