Lee and Holden
Honestly I didn't know how important these 2 players were until the start of this season.
By the looks of it, we are well on are way to relegation without them. Can the team hold on and win some games before these 2 can comeback and lead us out of relegation?
Or will there be another move to bring in some new players?
I seriously REALLY dont want our side to be in the championship next year. ><

Re: Lee and Holden
They are massive players for us. Wev'e lost the quality in our team so now we have to grind out results. Its like Arsenal losing Fabrigas and Nasri at the same time. Not the same without them. Only difference is that unlike them, our other players are very limited.
That said, I believe we will avoid relegation.

Re: Lee and Holden
Also the swedish meatball plus the one that scored two against us yesterday. Lastly, plus one year to the players age that slows them down significantly.
Re: Lee and Holden
Our problems go much deeper than missing a winger and central midfielder. We'd still have Petrov and Robinson on the left hand side. We'd still have no goalscorer of any note. We'd still have an ageing Jussi and dodgy Bodgan.drifter wrote:Honestly I didn't know how important these 2 players were until the start of this season.

Re: Lee and Holden
Lee is an outstanding player but I don't think we miss him as much as Holden. We have nothing in the centre of midfield without him, but as Whookam says above, our problems go much deeper than that. I don't think we'd be much better off as a side with them both back in at the moment due to our shockingly bad defending. I think it's pretty clear to all that Daniel Sturridge papered over the cracks in the 2nd half of last season.

Aye as I said last season Elmander and Sturridge goals in those spells, papered over a lot of cracks. As did Holdens magnificent form!

Err - so players playing well and us winning papers over the cracks we would have seen had we lost?BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye as I said last season Elmander and Sturridge goals in those spells, papered over a lot of cracks. As did Holdens magnificent form!

Re: Lee and Holden
Don't worry, he just wants us to say that 1/6th of Elmander's time was worthy of a club-bankrupting new contract. Tiresome, really.

feck*' Rooney, Vidic, Hernandez and Nani were probably papering over the cracks as United last season too. Jesus, this board is a fookin' dank place to be when we're not Brazil '78

It's not often that one player completely changes the fortunes of a team but Sturridge did that for us. The semi final was a perfect example of how bad we were without Sturridge and if it wasn't for him I'm convinced we would have been in the bottom 3 last season.boltonboris wrote:feck' Rooney, Vidic, Hernandez and Nani were probably papering over the cracks as United last season too. I told you all we will struggle without CYL. If we don't stop conceding 5 goals a game, we're going to get relegated for sure.

Re: Lee and Holden
I agree we do miss him but even if he had been playing the last 7 games I still think we'd have been wholloped. May have squeezed a draw against Norwich.martin1877coywm wrote:I told you all we will struggle without CYL. If we don't stop conceding 5 goals a game, we're going to get relegated for sure.
Holden however....
Oh how I wish we could have gone 4-5-1 with NRC/Holden/Muamba in the middle

Great player and would like him back but let's not rewrite history.Gail Platz wrote:It's not often that one player completely changes the fortunes of a team but Sturridge did that for us. We lost more PL games with Sturridge in the side than we did without him. Not saying he didn't have a positive effect but we were more than a one man team last season.

If we don't stop conceeding 5 goals per game we may well get relegated. This thread is easy.
