in this hour of delight - where is TW Spy?
This is no time for prayer... the end of the world is not nigh... there are days and days before the next prediction of dooooommm is necessary...
Time for Philip Bond to hoick up the cassock and get on with the job...
IMHO...

I'll have a word with him/her - I suspect his/her answer might be that the original purpose of TWSpy was to have a pop at dislikeable fans - fans whose pomposity it is fun to puncture.. TWSpy has spied on Stokies before and found them to be generally down-to-earth fans with no ideas above their station - and so it is not as much fun to lampoon them as it is (say) Citeh, Arsenal, ManU, West Ham, Newcastle, Blunderland, Liverpool, Chelsea...
not do we have any historic rivalry/hatred with them that might spice up such an encounter - like Wolves, B'burn, Wiggin,
it leaves a smallish pool of clubs who it is harder to poke fun at - QPR, Fulham, Stoke, Everton?, West Brom...
unfortunately we no longer beat anyone fun!!!

Him or her sounds a bit of a picky bastard to me... And, incidentally, if you can't dance on the bleeding corpse of Everton in high heels you've lost all sense of fun whatsoever...thebish wrote:William the White wrote:This is no time for prayer... the end of the world is not nigh... there are days and days before the next prediction of dooooommm is necessary...

Anyway, it's just wrong to denigrate the shining beauty that is schadenfreude, which needs neither rules not guidelines, simply the chance to glow becomingly in the dark...

nahhh - surely a worthwhile narrative needs some kind of internal tension... with stoke fans I don't feel any - where's the fun in trying to poke fun at fairly reasonable level-headed ordinary fans?

1) I have a very long term friend who is a stokie - in fact, before last christmas's debacle at the Brit his lot and ours had several pints and a curry together - and not for one minute could he be descibed that way...
and...
2) You really don't know where the fun is???

if I could play a cello I'd be in an orchestra... instead, I'm in an audience, and happy to be there...thebish wrote:William the White wrote:Two points:thebish wrote:nahhh - surely a worthwhile narrative needs some kind of internal tension... with stoke fans I don't feel any - where's the fun in trying to poke fun at fairly reasonable level-headed ordinary fans?[/b]

I'm sensing an irresistible force is meeting an immovable object here. This could run for pages!

No beef with Stoke fans, all pretty reasonable about Wembley, why bother?

Have to say we walked away from Wembley chatting with many a gloat-free Stoke fan. I thought that the way they conducted themselves was admirable. Fair play to 'em.officer_dibble wrote:Narrr I'm with Bish

I want to agree - I've checked out the oatcake and a decent, rational and, understandably, fairly despairing bunch, fans the same as us, supporting the same kind of club, with the same kind of issues and concerns - thebish's judgement correct... Admitted, and happy to do so...

Not the stoke supporting old couple I offered my seats to on the tube...sat down and began to tell us what a great day they've had...bloody old people.Bruce Rioja wrote:Have to say we walked away from Wembley chatting with many a gloat-free Stoke fan. The best line I've seen so far is ;

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

One thing I always liked about WtW; seems like a well-read erudite bloke-
but tempered with a vicious hatred for Everton.
