Fighting talk from Zat Knight

Zat Knight believes Bolton need to become 'horrible' to play against if they are to turn the corner and start climbing the Premier League table.
A 13th defeat of the season saw the Trotters hit rock-bottom on Saturday, with just nine points collected from 15 games so far.
Panic is yet to set in at the Reebok Stadium, but it is clear that an alarming slump needs to be addressed if the club are to preserve their top-flight status.
Knight acknowledges as much and feels Bolton need to rediscover their fighting spirit, allowing them to start grinding out results.
Following a 2-1 reversal against Aston Villa over the weekend, the centre-half told the Trotters' official website: "Saturday was one of those games where we felt we could get something.
"The first half was sloppy and we conceded easy goals.
"In the second half we came out with more fight, but it's a result that is hard to accept. Their goalkeeper pulled off some good saves as well, but when your luck is down then nothing goes for you.
"We have to do better all over the park - in defence, midfield and up front.
"There's no point doing the work on the training ground and then not putting that into place in the games. We need to fight because we don't want to be down there.
"It's still tight and there are games coming up, but we have to stop saying we can win them and instead we have to go and get something.
"We have to go out and grind out results, even if it is just starting with a point because that would be a better result than what we have had in our last few games.
"That would give us something to build on and some confidence, but first of all we have to fight. If we are resilient and hard to beat then there is every chance you can win games.
"We need to get back to the nitty-gritty and be horrible, hard to beat Bolton. We need to be a team that others fear and when the time comes to play us that they know they have been in a game.
"Teams need to play us and work extremely hard for every point."

He's got a point, we do need to become horrible to play against.
Shame we're just horrible to watch instead.

Out of all of the spineless wankers that pull on the shirt every week i think knight is the one i despise the most.
6 foot fukin 6 built like a shithouse but couldn't win a physical duel with mr burns. Complete and utter fecking fanny and the best thing about this season is that its his last for us.
couldnt fight his way out of a paper bag. cock off zat.

His defending is horrible..
But he's saying the right things... They all are... All the time... But nothing changes

As Mike Tyson once said, the ironing is delicious.
If I could think of one player who typifies the demise of the "hard to beat" Bolton, it would be him. We were hard to beat when we had rock hard bastards at centre half like Faye, Bruno, pre-injury Laville and even the likes of Meite and Jadhi. Now we have a big soft donkey called Gladys.
The way this interview is phrased, though, makes me wonder if it isn't a subtle dig at Coyle. Can't imagine Gladys was any too happy about being "protected" by those notable tackling machines, Mavies and Pratley.

Re: Fighting talk from Zat Knight
Isn't he the second most expensive centre half this club has ever signed?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Fighting talk from Zat Knight
he's probably the most expensive considering cahill's been midfieldering for the last 8 months.

Re: Fighting talk from Zat Knight
I concur. Sick and tired of hearing the same old same old. Zat says 'We've had a rollicking', Zat says 'The boss has laid the law down', Zat says 'I can change', Zat says 'Honestly give me one more chance', Zat says 'It won't happen again' and Zat says 'The wife and kids have left me.'
fecking rubbish. Stop talking about how we're going to sort everything out soon and start now.
Today.
feck it, it's too late. Aye, very good Zat - off you go.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Footballer in 'talking sense' shocker..."We have to go out and grind out results, even if it is just starting with a point because that would be a better result than what we have had in our last few games.
Trouble is we should have adopted this mentality after the Stoke game for the West Brom one....get on a roll, win, grind out couple of draws, take it from there.
Anyway we all know its all talk, they'll be coming out with this guff in March when we're on 18 points...'yeah we're not too worried about it, we'll try a bit harder next game and it'll probably be reet'

Re: Fighting talk from Zat Knight
From the Daily Mirror 13 Feb 2012.
Bolton defender Zat Knight says he is relieved after his Bolton Wanderers side were finally relegated to The Championship on Saturday.
The Trotters needed a win against local rivals Wigan Athletic and for other results to go their way to avoid the drop but a last minute penalty from Isidiro Diaz sealed their fate.
'We've been facing an uphill struggle since the start of the season' Knight told reporters 'We've had a tough season and some terrible injuries. We've battled hard but to be honest it's been mental torture for the past few months knowing we were favourites to go down. However with the pressure now off I believe the side will galvanise and show just how good a team we really are. Starting next week, or the week after, or the week after that.'
Bolton have only taken nine points all season and have a goal difference of almost -80, the worst in Premiership history.
Manager Owen Coyle blamed poor defending for everything but promised loyal fans an improved Wanderers team for next Saturday's clash away at League leaders Chelsea. 'Hopefully now we've been relieved of the pressure my players can go out and show how good they really are.' he deluded himself.

It is a good excuse to poke fun at that useless bastard though....
Sums up how we have gone to shit. Used to make the most of limited resources to rag ourselves up through sheer will power and nous.
He is 6'6" monster who is shit in the air, shirks responsibility, no strength and is as subtle on the ball as the lovechild of Alan Carr and a brick.
