Sammy Lee returning as youth coach

Sammy Lee set for Bolton return as youth team coach
Jan 22 2012 by Alan Nixon, The People

Sammy LEE is ready to make a surprise return to Bolton as their youth team coach – his FOURTH job at the club.

Lee, 52, left the manager’s post at the Reebok after a rocky run of results in 2007, when he stepped up from being Sam Allardyce’s sidekick and tried to be a No.1 in his own right.

But the popular Scouser – out of work since being squeezed by Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool last summer – is now in talks about going back to Wanderers to nurture their next crop of talent.

The Trotters have no axe to grind with Lee and think his vast experience – including a spell with the England set-up – will fit in with their long-term plan to develop home-grown players.

Lee finished his playing career at Bolton before he joined Big Sam’s coaching staff and moved up the ladder.

Wanderers have some top youngsters in their ranks and want Lee to bring them through for first-team action.
Good move that :)

Would rather him coach the first-team rather than the youth team, but as long as he doesn't become manager again, it doesn't really matter :D

Delighted actually. He was a catastrophe as a manager, but seemed to be well respected before he made that move.
... of course I may just be talking bo11ocks

one with a pocket full of tabs usually.

I hadn't realised 'King Kenny' had binned him. I suppose his compo's run out now so he's willing to work again.

If he comes back (again) he should be on national minimum wage for about 2 years. He's robbed us at least twice already.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Lee is a top coach, but a poor manager, an excellent move for the younger players at the club. Hope this doesn't mean that David Lee or Tony Kelly are replaced as both are great club men and have been doing well with the academy.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Good move by the club, it can only benefit the youth set up with a coach of sammy lee's standard.

Would seem to make a lot of sense this, experienced coach to come in and give our youth setup the advantage of some experience.

It's all part of an improvement plan to get him up to speed so he can take over at Sheffield Wednesday. 8)

I can understand people being happy with this but I'm still so angrily pissed off at the amount of complete shit be brought in, in my opinion we're still recovering from that. I suppose as long as he never considers becoming anywhere slightly in management and remains a coach, it can't be bad.

Sammy Lee must think we're a gift that keeps on giving. He took the piss out of us as a player, took the piss out of us as a manager, and here we are again. Take the fecking positives out of that then!
