I don't reckon they have much left in the way of career options. I'd say they might take it.
The wisest and the best of men, nay, the wisest and best of their actions, may be rendered ridiculous by a person whose first object in life is a joke...Darcy. Pride and Prejudice.

The Politic news is fantastic, and a good statement of intent.

Yes I've just read that, if true that's promising & positive and a 'good' loan signing if we can get him to stay next season.

Agreed. Hamilton seems to rate Hill - “He’s a very good manager and it was good to come here knowing the way he works. I think he gets the best out of me, I really do. I want to be a box-to-box midfielder and he makes demands of you in that way, gets you playing on the front foot as much as you can. It is the way he wants to play football and I think we’re all buying into it now” - and while to an exent you could put that down to being polite - players rarely say "Can't stand the bloke but I need the work" - the fact that he's signed for Hill twice now certainly says something.

As has been noted, hoovering up rejects from local Big Club academies is a very good way for us to boost our numbers, from U16s all the way up to seniors. Hopefully Hamilton will impress enough to earn a contract next season and help us start bouncing back.

• Brandon Fleming signed (six-month loan)
• Dennis Politic contract extended
• Connor Hall loaned out
• Kean Bryan signed (six-month loan)
• Anthony Georgiou signed (six-month loan)
• James Weir released
• Ryan Delaney signed (18-month contract)
• Jacob Mellis signed (six-month contract)

JUNE 2020

Is there a reason Darcy still hasn't been signed to a pro contract? He counts in our squad numbers presumably but could leave for tuppence if he's not signed up?

Well, we now have a full squad allocation so it would present a problem unless we we can offer a contract that begins on a future date. It's quite possible, though, that he's not overly keen to sign one, or at least one that's currently on offer.

Is he not part of that squad already by virtue of how many games he has played?

Don't think so - you're allowed a certain number of professional contracts, which is completely reasonable given the embargo is because we failed to pay professional contracts. (Whether it's reasonable that FV's BWFC are punished for Ken's is another topic, but remember that many of these embargo rules were brought in when clubs like Leicester were seen as flouting the softness of FL reaction to insolvency events.)

But when I say "Don't think so" that's partly because the EFL doesn't make public the minutiae of the rules. Even Ilesy, a proper journalist with justifiable public interest who's been on the story for years, can't get a straight answer out of them. Maybe this is because they make it up as they go along, or maybe again it's to avoid circumvention: if you publicly expose all possible loopholes then a club with a large following will have a thousand experts offering their help to give their side a boost. Because at heart we're all selfish - witness not the just the reaction to our points-penalty suspension but also our own glee when Uncle Ken kept pulling rabbits from hats in the last tier-three season. I don't recall anyone on here complaining we were bending the rules; I certainly didn't.
