Tony Philliskirk?

I would hope he had better things to do (either Tony or the bloke upstairs)

I also hope I have to change that post again by early February....

Apart from Thomason virtually everyone with a contract expiring this summer could be gone. If we don't go up Traff, Bradley and Shola won't be back, Aimson could still choose to leave if he doesn't feel that he's a guaranteed starter, MJ and Lee could be the same as Aimson but could both potentially get another year, albeit reduced roles in the team. Sheehan and Isgrove scream upgrades on the summer horizon as do Kacha and Bod. It's not even guaranteed that Nlundulu will be offered a contract.

It does show that this summer is going to be an extremely busy but crucially a critical one, irrespective of the division we're in.

At least it'll be interesting.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

Barely a day later:
Outgoing permanent transfers: Bakayoko, Afolayan, Aimson
Loan ended: Beck

Outgoing loan: Sadlier
Incoming loans: Nlundulu, Shoretire
Incoming permanent transfers: R Williams, Jerome, Adeboyejo

JUNE 2023
**James Trafford (10/10/02) – season loan from Man City, where he is contracted to 2026
Joel Dixon (9/12/93)
***Conor Bradley (9/7/03) – season loan from Liverpool, where he is contracted "long-term"
MJ Williams (6/11/95)
Kieran Lee (22/6/88)
Josh Sheehan (30/3/95)
Lloyd Isgrove (12/1/93)
****Shola Shoretire (2/2/04) - loan from Man United, contract length unknown
Elias Kachunga (22/4/92)
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson (25/5/92)
Dan Nlundulu (5/2/99) - loan from Southampton, where his contract expires in June

JUNE 2024
Gethin Jones (13/10/95)
George Johnston (1/9/98)
Declan John (30/6/95)
Kyle Dempsey (17/9/95)
Kieran Sadlier (14/9/94) - loaned to Orient until June
Cameron Jerome (14/8/86)

JUNE 2025
Ricardo Santos (18/6/95)
Eoin Toal (15/2/99)
Jack Iredale (2/5/96)
Randell Williams (30/12/96)
*George Thomason (12/1/01) "with the option for a further year"
Aaron Morley (27/2/00)
Dion Charles (7/10/95)

JUNE 2026
Victor Adeboyejo (12/1/98)

---------------------------------
B-team signings:
*Connor Stanley (30/12/01)
**Conor Carty (25/5/02)
**Mackenzie Chapman (13/9/02)
**Nelson Khumbeni (14/10/02)
**Gerald Sithole (28/12/02)
***Lynford Sackey (18/2/03)
***Matty Grivosti (14/3/03)
****Eric Yoro (19/2/04)

Young pros:
**Adam Senior (20/1/02)
**Luke Hutchinson (1/9/02)
***Fin Lockett (20/4/03)
***Max Conway (5/9/03)
***Arran Pettifer (1/10/03)
***Lamine Toure (24/12/03)
****Matty Tweedley (16/4/04)
****Elis Litherland (5/5/04)

*Stars indicate underage players; number of stars indicates number of seasons they will remain underage, assuming EFL age rules don't change. So George Thomason is in his last underage season, but Elis Litherland has three more after the 2022/23 season.
No lengths given for contracts given to B-teamers and graduating academy players, so 2023 is an assumption.

Of those out of contract at the end of the current season, I'd currently only be considering opening negotiations with Lee and Dad Bod.

And of the group below them, Johnston is the obvious one I'd be offering improved terms to now.

I believe Iles said all contract talks are off until we know which division we are in next season.

Sure, and I'd only be "considering".

The exception would, and really should, be Johnston.

I'll go out on a limb and say everyone on this forum and most of the fanbase would offer GJ a new deal; but I'm not sure he'd want to discuss one until he knew which division we'd be in.

Everyone will know where they stand at the minute. If he signs a new deal next week, fantastic. You suspect that if he would sign a new deal we'd have already tied him down. By this stage with Santos we already knew that he'd been offered a deal and I think he said he was focused on the season and would sign in the summer - which eventually happened. The offer was openly known, though.

Does anyone else think we might try and extend Shoretire's loan for next season?

On the basis of one game jmjhb ? Seems a bit premature so early? Just an opinion.

I think some outlines will have been sketched before he moved here. What we view the loan as achieving for all parties, how he'd fit in, whether he could have a role beyond this season, etc. That's pretty normal stuff.

I think I said before he arrived that Ten Hag wants to look at him during the next preseason, so unless that changes you'd think we'd have to wait for the outcome of that.

Of course if he bombs it won't matter. We had "plans" and "hopes" for Xav and they went well.

The only one we currently know for sure is expected to be here next season is Nlundulu. He wants that and we currently want that. Suppose it depends if he makes himself worth whatever Saints value him at.

Just on a personal level they will be, but he's also potentially a multi million pound asset if we get promoted and he signs a new deal (we've just seen a Championship centre back sold for £15m. They'll be working on things in the background.

Hmm. Morning BN piece says Big Dan is contracted for 18 months with no fee-based release clause this summer.

Yeah, we've also not formally agreed any fees with Southampton for his transfer. It needs to be negotiated in the summer, if he is staying.

It might be hard for him to get enough game time to make an impact to push towards a permanent deal. In fact I hope he doesn’t as I suspect that would mean we have issues.
