Yup. It's good for the future of the club.

Morley, Santos, Toal and Charles will need new deals too. We'll see who is still hear once the window slams shut and what then goes on.

Just for once I'd like to see a transfer window pulled to

Good and I think looking at us it’s important we try and tie as many of our players onto longer term contracts as possible.

Seasons are marathons not sprints. 3 games means very little and things can change in the blink of an eye. But for my money this is the first time under Evatt where we’ve put three games together where we aren’t just winning or looking better than the opponents or even thumping them but look a literal class above in just about every way.

With that and if it continues then our players will draw more and more attention. The club needs to do all it can to protect against vultures from above picking us apart.

Great news. But if we're handing out pay-rises to multiple players, we really need to go up in order to pay for it. Otherwise, player sales will have to fund it.

Here's hoping it's the former

Aye. Looking at the list of players whose contracts are up the summer after next – Baxter, Coleman, Jones, Toal, Santos, Iredale, JDC, Williams, Sheehan, Morley, Charles – I'd be in a rush to tie down Rico and Dion, with Morley and Toal probably next on the list for "resale value" purposes, althoiugh obviously some discussions are easier (and cheaper) than others. The rest we can judge as we go along because we might need some flexibility to improve the squad...

An interesting take. Personally I would hope the wages are structured per division, perhaps with carefully-agreed escape clauses on either side. Say for instance Morley can leave for £1m if we stay down but it's £2m if we go up, or whatever.

Contracts extended needs the removal of MJ Williams as that's no longer required.

Morley had extended his contract until June 2027. A bit of a surprise decision. He hasn’t been great this season but was probably our best midfielder against Lincoln. He seems to have 5 or 6 good games then goes off the boil.

From The Athletic's Thomason piece, but perhaps worthy of note in the circumstances:

Boo...is it too late to sell him? Awful that. Never even does a step-over.

I'm guessing that would include any free-kicks where Aaron takes them + a lot of roll-outs heading through him, including short distributions across the back line? If they do include those two, then I'm not necessarily shocked.

As for Vic...

Grand spot, mate. Does the free-kick count as the first pass in the open play move? (Genuinely don't know :-) )
