11 years - What a journey
It's the morning after and it still feels so sad thinking that it's come to an end. Thought it might be a good idea for a thread where everyone can post their favourite moments of our Premier League years. I'm lucky having being there for most of them, however being 23 I can't remember too much pre Allardyce. This is the era I've grown up with, and to see it end really hurts.
So anyway, it's time to reflect on what's been a great 11 years and cheer ourselves up a bit! I'll go first, and have to say the trip to Munich.

Beating Man Utd, two seasons in a row away at Old Trafford. Amazing moments.
Beating them at home for the first time in donkeys years.
The game at Portsmouth where we clinched Europe, asking Kamara for the scores so we could celebrate.
0-0 down at Southampton to leave survival in our hands the following week.
Beating Boro 2-1 to survive. Elation on a long journey home listening to West Ham fans moan. We were the centre of the football universe that day, with the title decided in advance.
Reading losing and us beating Sunderland 2-0 at home to effectively stay up.

The Munich trip was ace, and also enjoying the beer in the square in Marseille and wanderers fans putting bubble bath in the fountain
Jay-Jay's screamer against West Ham
Ivan Campo and Fernando Heirro
Stelios scoring against arsenal again, the commentator saying "He's done it again!!"

Some of these will be put on the front page as a retrospective article, if no-one minds.

Remember being so happy at the prospect of Rivaldo!Whookam wrote:"I've got a fax in my back pocket"

Jussi's 2 penalty saves at Blackburn.
I remember the Darwen end being full of Wanderers fans (possibly our biggest away following in the Prem?). I was in there with a mate who was a Rovers fan who was sick as anything at the end. Great noise when Campo scored infront of us, and then pure pandemonium when Roberts and McCarthy missed their penalties in the last 10 minutes. Did Nolan get sent off in the melee after one of them as well?

Yes after the second one, I think - didn't he ask the ref in no uncertain terms if he wanted to award a third penalty just to be on the safe side?jimbo wrote:Did Nolan get sent off in the melee after one of them as well?

SKD's broken, dislocated finger vs West Ham a couple of years ago. He got up to score the winner that sent us on the run that kept us up.

Re: 11 years - What a journey
The 4-0 win at Everton which demonstrated we were a real force in the division. Unthinkable from that opening day at Leicester a few years earlier, when I went there just hoping we wouldn't get humiliated!
Plovdiv. There were better European nights, but being at our first competitive European away game was something I never thought I'd see in the dark days of the 1980s.
